Grand Master of the Dark Angels

Hello All, Well here is my almost complete Grand Master. I converted him with from a Magnus Calgar (back pack, torso, head, legs, left arm), some tank bits (Strom Bolter and Imperial Icon and a Grey Knight (sword and right arm). No green stuff was used because I couldn’t find any locally and didn’t want to order from away, so there are gaps here and there. Personally I think this is about a 5.2 to a 5.5 or so, other than the fact that he has no flock etc. The face bugs me as does the sword (third time and still don’t like it). However, I’m happy with the scratch built left shoulder pad, the wings on either side of the head and the chain with icons on either end. I really would like some advice on how to fix up the face, the sword (which is supposed to be the sword of secrets) and what I should paint the grenades on his belt. Any and all advice is welcome and would be much appreciated. Cheers Cromwell p.s. I have some ideas for a base, but and advice on that would be welcome too

Nice job, it's definitely a six with all the converting. It's kinda of hard to tell in the pics, but the face could really just use a bit more depth. Give it a thin wash with dwarf flesh, and then one of dark flesh, and then just re-highlight it. If ya want, you could just ink it, but that's a bit messier. I usually paint my grenades with DA Green highlighted with camo green, although black can look good. I'd paint the sword a non metallic colour, such as a dark red, blue, etc. Give it some striations to make it look like lightning. In general, just give it some more highlights, and it'll look loads better. Also, the chains look kinda really frickin huge on him :D maybe try adding a back banner and adding them to it? Anyways, sorry, I was just in a typative mood. :)
