Blood Angel to Space Wolf

This started off as a second edition Blood Angel, but has been converted to a third edition Space Wolf. Work done on this mini includes; LOTS of grinding, filing, whittling. (goodbye all them blood drops, strips up the shins, etc.) Swapped out second edition pewter bolter with third edition plastic bolter. Took off iron halo. Took off power weapon, and replaced it with a hand made Frost Blade made of frosted plexi-glass (that was whittled to look like crystal), green stuff and plastic skulls. Clipped off the bar that connected it to its base. Legs got CAREFULLY bent to position him to look like he's running over a rock-strewn field. Base made of Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty (love this stuff) and crushed granite (thanks to my ball-pen hammer). Pack and frag grenade are straight from the bits box. HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE IT! Please only rank me based on my modifications; I know it’s not painted yet! I wanted you guys to see all the work before I cover it up with paint! :) and sorry for the poor picture, it's the best my aging camera can take. Any suggestions on painting it?

Thanks! :) Yeah, the blade of the sword is being left unpainted. i have a brush on primer and i just painted around it. When i did get some paint on it i just used a terpintine rag to take it off before it dried. Wet paint comes off VERY easily (learned that painting cars ;))

looks like youve put a lot of work into it so far, but i think that 1) the sword hilt is gonna end up cartoony, the greenstuff doesnt have sharp edges, and those skulls arnt as angular as the ones on the rest of the model 2) the frost blade is a great idea, and well converted, albeit scaled strangely, its wider than it probably should be. 3) the right shoulderpad will have to be (in my opinion) painted like scavenged armor, as it still has the bloodangels skull and crossbones. Good work

U4-Maybe the pictures don't show it very well, but the model has a good 50 degree lean to it and the left foot isn't flat, it's up on it's toe like he's mid-stride. The Frost Blade is being left clear, but i heaviely frosted it down at the base where it meets the green stuff so that no pewter or green stuff would show through. Buddha-Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely do that next time. I'm going to hand base it in white, but your suggestion is A LOT easier. And yeah, I'm keeping it clear. The blades that get painted to look like crystal only look good from one angel, and this piece is going to see time on a battlefield, so it's got to look good from every angle. THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS! :) They're always welcome.
