to me it yells "give me washes! i need definition. the easiest way to do this would be to water dwn some black (or brown or grey or whatever you want really, as long as its dark) and thinly apply it around texture (scales muscles etc) it should settle in recesses and along edges. play with this idea, but remember less is more. do many thin washes for the best effect. im not great, but i think this could help.
Nice clean basecoat, but it needs shading and highlighting. It looks a bit flat like this. Also the base could use a little variation, maybe a stone or soemthing, a bit of higher grass.
