D&D monk with a lightweight sword

I REALLY love these new miniatures from Cell's 1999... I don't even play the game, but always end up buying the models whenever i go to the local hobby shop. This is one of the two "Desade Swordsmans" that came in the box... one found it's way into my bits box, the other (pictured) got a headswap (plastic GW Space Marine head wittled to meet my needs with a new green stuff ear) and the neck got cleaned up with green stuff. Blade is metallic paint with a black wash and while the black was still tacky i used a wet brush to add texture to a very flat looking sword. Freehand on the arm band is simple and made to look like a sideways tree. Base is green tea. More pics can be found at; http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=4756 Thank you for looking and please leave comments (it's the only way i ever get better). I really feel this is a painting breakthrough for me. Thanks Dragonsreach for the face painting tutorial and talks over on the boards. Trevor and Finn for the kind words and inspiration, and Klute for aiming me in the right direction. Itchy-

Itchy: Thanks for the compliment, but in the end it's down to you with the paintbrush. Looking at this figure it is actually quite a difficult figure to paint, with all the folds of material and skintones, you've done a good job on the face and I like the shaven headed stubble. :)

Nice muted job. The cloak is very subtle. Skin looks good, but there is something up with the sculpt on his chest, it should be a flat slab of pectoral muscle but it looks like the sculpt has ribs there, very odd. The face is looking good. The worst bit is his hair, very flat. A great way of getting a skinhead effect is to paint the skull flesh coloured, then wash over with a dark brown or black ink where you want hair, then when dry wash over with a very dilute flesh wash.
