Try thinning your paints a little bit with some water, they look kind of thick. There are some great tutorials in the articles section. I've found many of them to be really helpful. You're off to a good start. Keep it up!
This really ur first?? It's neat, which is the best start. My advice for the next thing to try is use some inks on tetured areas, like that mail skirt.
