Monique DeNoir

This miniatrue is a work in progress by my wife. She would really love a honest oppinion about her skills and some suggestions for improvements in both painting and creating a proper base for the figure. Her oppinion is she needs to blackline the armor. Also, she's not happy with the graniness of metals (most likley my fault using a poor quality primer) and would love to learn some techniques for NMM. Any help there? Looking forward to your replys. Thanks in Advance.... Barronmore

I agree with the other posts here about the face. Her ability with detail is good. My suggestions are to waterdown the paint some so that it will go on more smoothly. Was this given a base coat with spraypaint? If so, try spraying someplace that is really dry, not humid. That may be the reason that the paint is bumpy or 'fuzzy' looking. She should experiment with layered highlights as well. Keep up the good work!

The skintone is great, and the color selection is very nice. The freehand on the back is well done. I think that some people forget that it's a WIP when rating, or just ignore the text explaining that fact.

I think she has done well on the face and I like the symbols on here shield and clothes. Metallics can be hard to work with. Be sure to thin the metallics, which will help with the grittiness. Search in the forums and in the articles here at CMON for advice--there is lots of it! Keep working at it on the highlights--so far it is looking good!
