I like the way you use black as your main colour without losing depth, and also without excessive shading, of which I'm not a fan. If the model is part of a force, of which all models have this kind of base, then the base is just fine, since unity is more important than fancy decoration. But if it's a single model for your showcase, I'd do something about it.
