Inquisitor Van Holtz

Just in time for Halloween :D As a big fan of the Van Helsing movie, I couldn't resist doing this guy up. Everyone said this model looked like the infamous vampire hunter anyway, so I went the extra distance and made the crossbow, fixed the hat, etc. Not much serious conversion work, but I tried to make him as close to the movie imagery as possible without resorting to radical reconstructive greenstuff. I also used this as an excuse to practise some of Jakob Nielsen's metallic techniques. I didn't use any of the transparent paints or anything, but mainly his glazing and hilighting schemes. I'd already done his purple ink on gold before (works great by the way) but on this model every metallic piece was glazed one color or another (or several!). The green/silver cables were inspired by the movie, it's got some serious steampunk stuff going on and a lot of the scientific bitz had glowing green parts so it just made sense. The blue steel look is something I've been doing ever since the Grey Knights came out... it can be a bit fiddly at times but I love the results. Anyway, I'm very happy with how he turned out, and he won the popular vote in the Staff category here in Edmonton, so he'll be in the finals judged at Conflict Calgary on Nov 6-7th. Expect a Mr. Hyde conversion as soon as the new plastic Ogres come out... did I mention I love that movie?

I love this guy!! He is great, although the film version of Van Helsing, he is way more attractive;) I know what you mean bout different glazes over metals, I am rather fond of green ink with a bit of brown mixed in over mine. Nice crossbow by the way :)
