Nurgle Terminator

I managed to win Gold at Oz GD 2004 with this mini, seeing I was not at all happy with the original pics here are some (hopefully) better ones. Hope you like it. :) You can see the conversion work here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/?id=32904 Intended as my general for my Nurgle LatD army, he is so far the only painted mini (did I mention I'm a really slow painter?) I threw every technique I had at this one, in particular I spent ages on the armour blending. I wanted to get that grungy Nurgle feeling but without it looking too messy, every little streak and blotch was carefully placed, the idea is that his armour is now living and has burst open in places with pustulating boils and horns, so these are lined with brighter red to represent the raw open nature of the "wounds". I used purple and brown inks to get a bruised effect around the broken armour plates. I've been trying out off-colour mixes for my shading and highlighting which seems to be giving an earthy feel, work well for Nurgle. I put broken bullet riddled glass in the window, and used pastels to make the base dirty and add some grime to the windows. The tentacles bursting out the side of his face were inspired by a pic in the Chaos Marine Codex of a marine with tentacles bursting out the side of his face, I realised afterwards that green stuff that thin is very fragile and despite being really careful, I broke them repeatedly (I had to resculpt the thing twice, you'd have thought I would learn, but no). If anyone knows how to make tentacles that thin and not so fragile I'd love to hear it.

Hmmm....this mini looks a bit familiar. Methinks I've seen it, once, twice, or maybe thrice in your gallery. :D Still awesome, though. Nice converting, and a great, nurgle-fitting paintjob. *This comment was brought to you by the Anti-Sniping Cooperative* :)

Black base? Why didn't I think of that? I think you're right it would look better. Thanks for the comments :)

Very nice work Trevor! Congratulations for your golden demon. I like the conversions and the colour scheme. The only thing that I don´t like is the colour of the base, maybe in black looks better. bye
