Techmarine

Ok, here's the story- There was a painting competition at my local Games Workshop for the Techmarine. It came out on January 1st, and each person was to come in, buy the mini, assemble and paint it all that day, then bring it back before closing for judging. Store hours are from 10am-6pm that day. Fortunately for me, I was only mildly hung over. (bleh) So this mini is actually pretty complex to put together, so I pinned and used 5 min epoxy to put him together. To bad for me that I noticed the lower arms were switched, so halfway through I had to rip them off and stick them on the right way (a skull was upside down or I wouldn’t have bothered). With drilling the barrel holes, and driving (I live 40 mins away) this cut into painting considerably. I ended up with about 3 hours to paint and base him (not recommended). So I got him mostly done, brought him back, and managed to win. Had I known that the prize was only $10 in store credit, I awfully would have spent the day in bed like any sensible hung-over person. Anyway, I’ve now spent another few hours on him and spruced him up for ebay. I hope you enjoyed this story as much as I didn’t.

Very nice mini, you may have only got $10 credit but i seems to be doing very well on eBay! :) I have to admire you for painting a complex model, with all the fiddly details GW likes to put on its minis, i think i would have given up!

Yes, I don't think I'll be painting another one any time soon!! It's like a miniature defiler- bleh. But for what the model does, I don't really see how it could be much different- kind of one of those functional not pretty models.
