When you take your photos, try going outside in natural light, and turning your flash off. Nice sunny day, get in the shade of a house or other building, and your pictures will turn out much better.
My advice to help make your painting better, paint in layers. You've got the right idea with your lighter lines on the edges of the plating, but next time, try drybrushing the edges in lighter colors, and layer it up darker as you get towards the center of the plates.
Its still a good tabletop quality mini though!
