One of my first minis that i just semi-finished (silly since im 19 kind of a late start but anyways) first pic aswell with a shitty webcam so..oh well any help is highly appriciated
For an early piece, this is pretty good. You have a good sense of color, and you're brush control looks pretty good. I think the main thing you need to work on is hilight and shading; as mentioned below, try using drybrush and/or wash techniques to add more levels of color.
Lots of room for improvment, but I still like it. Try drybrushing those flagstones with plain white, or perhaps beige; they'll stand right out there! Experiment with very light basecoats, deep, dark washes, and selective highlights. Keep it up!
Not bad for a first (or close to) effort and you did pretty well with the webcam too. Lot's of good, in-depth painting info out on the web, and for a review/critique/tips kind of an experience the yahoo mini-painter group can be great. It's at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mini-painter/promote. :)
