Looks like the pole was painted to look like a jet blast from the bottom of the drone. You can see the faint glow from the light on the sand and on the pathfinder.
If you are just building it as a diorama, I'd replace the plastic flight pole on the gun drone with a bit of brass or steel wire. It's a lot less intrusive that way, and just as sturdy.
