Female Angel Christmas Miniature 2004 FBWEI005

This was a very interesting mini to paint and photograph. The photograph on the CMON store had has mostly in hues of blue, but I’ve been painting gold on my angelic wings and wanted to try some new ideas. In addition, I discovered I didn’t have any light blue, so I worked on a base of camouflage green with other lighter greens to lighten it in spots. The wings are all metallic or metallic blend. I started out with copper over the black base then I highlighted with gold. Finally I highlighted with a blend of gold and “bad moon yellow” which formed metallic mustard that you can see on the base as well. To the naked eye (and even with a magnifying glass) I really couldn’t tell any difference between the colors but they do show up different on the photo. (As opposed to other cases where the mini shows more detail to the naked eye than to the detailed camera.) The same was true for the shades of green on the dress. Photographing was also interesting. I had a choice between cleavage or face as one hides the other, more or less. My third shot with the cleavage wasn’t as good, so I settled for these two views.
