Nope; the vat and the base are two seperate things, neither anything to do with a car.

Interesting piece.... I reckon the base and the vat are joined together and possibly are something out of a car? I see the AA baterries, yeah...

I think you're imagining this bigger than it is; the base measures 4 1/2" x 8" and overall the piece is about 3" high. Baterries; yep, Double A's. Film casing; no, but close. Paper tray; nope. And the vat itself is not any kind of jar, can, lid or container. Happy guessing!
