Patrol steamer

This is a little feller I sculpted for Armorcast. It was part of a whole line I sculpted of steam powered stuff. The smoke and fire are from the boiler, not damage. I like to have contrast in alot of my artwork so I put this war machine on a base from a happy little park or garden. It gives the mini more menace. I made the grass from the type of fuzz on the edge of a Santa hat. Painted it greeen, brushed it out, cut clumps off and glued them in place. Luckily the rows dont show too much. Finally, with a small pair of scissors I mowed the lawn. The little 'railing' is the railing from an N scale ship. The flowers are out of Magic-Sculpt. The inspiration for those was Margo's roses (I tried and couldent get them as good as her's). The leaves are from paper. Hope y'all like it. I have really enjoyed this site.

GREAT! This is a very special piece indeed, not being that perfectly styled like the miniatures I usually give the high ratings it has a lot of expression and character, just as if the machine was a living creature. It reminds me of the "living" cars and machines in the old Donald Duck comics. The concept is wonderful and so is the sculpting and paint job, though I think I wouldn't enjoy it. Looks pretty hard to paint. You've done a marvellous job. Is that smoke part of the sculpt? Or did you add it yourself? Just one point, some OSL would've been great (I mean, you already got the fire and the skills...). However: Congratulations, keep it up! Cheers -Salvador
