Colour theory aside.. I think the fact that you've used the different colours for shading etc is excellent. Looks lke you've developed a very nice technique for yourself. Keep working on that and maybe thin your paints more, and you're going to do well! There's some good tutorials on this site if you haven't looked yet. Good work. :)

I agree that the blue/yellow go together really well in this paint job. I think part of the problem with the colors there is that it draws the eyes towards the middle so you don't get an image of it overall right away. I think if you put a bit of bright color in the ball on his staff, it might help balance the yellow/blue better. I also think the back of the cloak looks really drab for such a brilliant outline--did he get an old worn-out cloak re-trimmed in an attempt to look richer than he is? I don't know. I think I would have chosen either a very dark blue or a black for the outside and lining of the cloak... As for his face, it seems to me that he has a five-o'clock shadow--kudos if that's intentional. ;)

I really don't see anything wrong at all with the choice of colors. The blue and yellow contrast vibrantly with each other and serve to raise the level of tension, which is entirely appropriate given the figure's dynamic pose. The face is well done, although somewhat rich in grey overtones. I disagree regarding blacklining; it too often results in a cartoonish miniature. Nothing wrong with that, but it appears you're working towards a more subtle style. I agree that the leather areas on the figure need to be defined better---I always have problems in this regard, as I find browns especially difficult to highlight realistically.
