I paint the black with ink, not being overly precise. Then I paint it over with white from the sides until only a thin black line shows.
This is what Rembrandt used to do!

how did you black line so neatly? esp. in between the rune armor? is that ink or actually paint? how do you thin it down (how many drops of water per drops of paint/ink)?
