Well, it's too busy for one thing.
The lightning claw hurts my eyes. your scrollwork and gold look good, but the rest seems a bit over-the-top. Case in point the laurel-thing. Also, thin your washes or even stop using them altogether. As advice from someone who used to do stuff like this all the time: start simple and work your way up.
