Angel (christmas miniature 2004)
This was a nice miniature to work on, a beautiful, simple sculpt. I spend a lot of time figuring out what colours to go with for her - mainly "what colour to paint the dress, and how will it affect the overall piece". In the end, as you can tell, I decided on the classic white angel look. Following that decision, the skin was painted up as a pale pinkish tone, and she has blonde hair ( I like how the yellow of the hair provides the most vibrant tone on what could have otherwise become quite a pale model) The see through effect was made by painting the skin on the dress with very thinned down glazes, and then glazing back over it with white, and highlighting back up, glazing down etc. In the end I varnished the dress and skin with satin varnish, which gives the model a porcelain style finish - the hair and wings, in contrast, are varnished matt. The number on the back of the base is the limited edition number. So she is number 22 out of 500 ( I think)
