GW changes to cheaper materials and puts up prices.

stayed a week in liskeard once. tbf, we spent most of the time travelling away from the cottage....

Liskeard does make an okay base location wise if you are travelling about Cornwall a lot as its in the middle. Personally though I recommend Looe or Polperro by the sea is much nicer. I have a very fond memory of Polperro which I cannot relate here unfortunately lol. I live on the edge of Liskeard so its a little greener looking with some views luckily.

Finn - I think thats called Heathlands Industrial estate. I dont often stroll down that way. The pubs down that end are the haunts and drinking grounds of a mortal enemy and there is a potential risk of me ending up in prison if I get my hands on the twat (hit and run me a few years back).

And oh, I think this thread is pretty much officially derailed lol.......

Can we please have the old GW back please, you know from the days when it was run by passionate enthusiastic gamers like Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson with lots of different games being released. Surely it was successful back then. The age of video games may have eaten into the market share, but it must be possible to run it as a business and retain the old spirit of a games company run by gamers....?

personally, i have always preferred the north coast as i like to surf. so crantock, sennon etc are my fav's. that said i'm from taunton originally so the north coast of devon used to house my 'local' breaks

I did south Devon when I was a lad a few times, but the other half hasn't and neither of us has done Cornwall at all. It'd likely be a week in somewhere self-catering and going off for day trips here and there. Neither of us are able to surf, but both like the coast so the closer we are to it the better :)

There are many nice locations, it really depends on your preferred activities. The obvious tip is try and stay in a busy coastal town with a nice beach close by - you cant fail to go wrong then. Remember you dont have much driving distance to worry about. My personal favourite towns would have to be Newquay and St Ives. Both great places, St Ives has great beaches.

Just my 2c...
Newquay is nice, I used to work there, but it has a strong yoof culture and gets quite rowdy at nights,
St. Ives is lovely but avoid during peak times as it gets absolutely packed and if you're in a car...forget it.

Penzance is nice and a great base to head out on trips from. The Roseland peninsula is also nice and not as busy as one might expect.

yeah i agree. its not like gw is forcing anyone to buy their stuff.

Well that's sort of correct. They don't come to your home with guns making you go to the store to buy it... But if you want to participate in any of their gaming or even just go to their store and paint figures with others (which at our local store at least you pay for the privilege of in the battle bunker thingie) then you have to keep in mind you can only have GW figs and use GW paints... They won't even let me use minis in the store that I've based with my preferred Litko bases.
