Board game recommendations

Now that Christmas holidays are getting closer and I might even see all of my friends, I would like to get a new board game. The thing is that our group have quite selective taste and I must admit that I also like certain kind of games more then the rest. So here are some guidelines, so that this wouldn't be too difficult:

-Theme: preferably horror, fantasy (high or low), scifi, pulp adventures (like indiana jones etc.)

-Suggested players: 2-4

-Cost: approx max 60€ (81 dollars)

-Rules: nothing too difficult but rather fast and fun. Meaning that if the rulebook is like current Warhammer fantasy battle rulebook, then I don't have time or will to read and study that

-Not too much small stuff like with arkham horror that has bagloads of counters, cards and "kibble". I like AH but there is perhaps too much stuff

I have Arkham Horror and some miniature games like Tannhauser and Dust tactics.

Run for your life, Candyman!
or
Shootin' Ladders

Classic games re-vision with weapons, "destructible" playing pieces, bad candy based puns, and gingerbread men with attitudes.

I saw a fallout themed monopoly earlier on. Shame it was in German

...And shame that it was most likely this one:

"Unlike the Klingon version, Fallout Monopoly is not an official product. In fact, it was created by a private individual who goes by the name PinkAxolotl on deviantART.1 She created the entire thing for one lucky guy: her boyfriend, who I presume is a Fallout fan."

I have to admit that I have never played a single game of monopoly and I'm 30 years old.

Dominion - its a card game, plays fast. multiple levels of strategy. 2 page rulebook with easy rules. Slightly fantasy based. 5+ expansions available. Only complaint is that it can totally lack player interaction in some circumstances.

Twilight Imperium - Like Axis and Allies in outerspace. Complicated but fun. Not sure what the cost though, it has about 1000 pieces. Needs 3+ players.

Decent - A dungeon crawler. Can be a lot of fun, but can also be rules heavy. In the more expensive bracket. Many expansions available.

Mansion of Madness - Arkham Horror meets Clue.

I thought about that Mansion of Madness. It could be interesting. At least our group likes Cthulhu mythos and stuff like that. I also considered Talisman. But I'm not sure about that.

Talisman is pretty quick to learn, and fun. It does have tons of cards and markers though.

By far, my absolute favorite board game for the last few years has been "Zombies!!!" by twilight creations.
It fits your requirements ( though it does have cards), is crazy amounts if fun, is easy to play ( with broad appeal), and has loads of fantastic expansions to keep it fresh. Each of the expansions covers a pop culture zombie reference, and there are lots of ways to play.
Its also cheap.
Trust me , if you get it, you WON'T be disappointed.

I checked that game from the board game geeks and there was some kind of a preview, but it didn't actually gave that much of a information. What I would like to know is; Why is it such a fun game (I'm not saying it wouldn't be). But I would just like to hear what that "catch" is. What makes it such a great game?
I guess zombie game would otherwise be ok.

Super Dungeon Explore might be interesting. Or at least I would like to paint those little miniatures, but don't really know if rest of the guys would like that theme. There are some, who are against all type of anime things.

I'll second Zombies. Good fun and have played it with non-wargamers and all had a laugh. Numerous expansions are by no means essential but make for useful follow up Birthday/Christmas gifts ;) Who wouldn't be excited to receive a sack of glow-in-the-dark zombie dogs!

Just read last post. Map grows as each player lays a tile on their turn. Lots of opportunity to stuff over other players with cards. Can go for heli-pad to win or just collect zombies, so at least two ways to win instead of one. Over within an hour so non-gamers don't get bored! Fits in as a party game for me, rather than something to get out every games night. Can't think of any exclusive mechanic to it, it's just simple to launch into and holds interest to the end (unlike say Monoploy or Risk where it becomes clear who's going to win by half way through). Suitable for kids who are old enough to relish the fantasy of blowing up zombies with shotguns ;) The main game has cropped up in Waterstones the last couple of Christmas' and I think was under a tenner, so not expensive to just try out.

More recently Incursion has gone down well. A 2 player Space Hulk style thing though we've played it with two per side on games night when numbers are low. Lots of minis available too if you really get into it and start wanting to create 3-D boards. With the Snafu expansion the number of missions squeezed out of the double-sided board is impressive (though I think it's a little over-priced).

Cheers, B.

BPI summarized Zombies well.
i should tone down the enthusiasm though - "you PROBABLY wont be disappointed."
there are some people who hate the game; some non-gamers because it requires some non linear decision making, some power gamers because it isnt "fair" or "balanced," and some people who aren't in to the concept. this poses a problem because it is by and large a social game, so if someone is being lame it can ruin the experience for everyone.
while none of the concepts are individually groundbreaking, its solid overall and never plays the same way twice. as BPI mentioned its best as a party game and is more fun and much faster with more people playing. the best thing about it is that its not a strictly "out of the box" game. twilight creations has always intended it to be the game you want it to be, by using the material you like and dropping the stuff you dont. with all the expansions it has become extremely (sometimes dauntingly) flexible for a board game (but still simple). there are even rules for deck building and the like, so it can play more like a CCG, and there is a lot of fan content available for custom games and cards (you can buy blank cards and tiles).
it seems like a good and inexpensive fit for what you are looking for, and i have had some great times with it, but its definitely not for *everyone*.

definately Talisman as its so easy to play. Somebody said there is a lot of cards and markers for it, I wouldnt agree with that really. The basic game has enough cards but there are expansions which can bulk it out.
