This looks encouraging. Nice skin tones so far. I always watch your projects and you keep on improving. Now, get on with it.

Thanks Milosh. That's part of the reason I really need to focus on finishing a mini without jumping around too much - I end up coming back to something 3 months later, and I've gotten better/developed new skills, and I have to either start over or deal with a mini that looks like it was painted by two different people LOL.

Haha never! Because I like you guys so much, and because I wish my camera took better pictures, I used my light tent.

I still can't get the camera to get the full details on his head, but they ARE just WIP pics.

That is an awesome miniature.

Is it a Mordheim figure?

Skintones look pretty good to me so far. Looking forward to the finished article.

The old man is actually a figure from Black Scorpion Miniatures called Desolation Row Seven Curses (Desire). At least that's what the blister says. I got him in a mini exchange a while back.

It's so odd - I WANT to paint, and yet I can't bring myself to do it. It's a shame to waste the time I have, so I have to keep searching for things that inspire me to put brush to mini.
Artemis - that shield of hers is intimidating the hell out of me. And NMM blades aren't something I have a lot of practice with.
Termie Librarian - not sure how I want to tackle the staff.
Terminus - huge and brown.
Old Man - all that's really left are the 8 million scrolls he's got, and I don't want to rush them just to finish him. And scrolls are not what I want to paint right now.

So where's that leave me? You guessed it - starting ANOTHER mini.
A while back I picked up a few Malifaux starters, thinking I'd get into it. Still haven't played a game (though it does sound fun), but they are cool minis.
So meet the mercenary Taelor, who hangs with the Viktorias:

Skin, hair, shirt/pants done. Need to do the glove, the armor, the chaps, boots, and hammer. Not bad for one evening.

Nice work on Taelor! Her face can look a little funky from what I've seen, but it looks like you've done a lovely job. The blues look great as well.

I bought two starters a year ago (maybe more actualy) at least youve started painting them. The game does look a lot of fun though.

As for the mini - Looks great but best not show it to some of the people on the KDM kickstarter they may want you to extend her shirt (jk)

If anyone pledged into KD:M and is offended by cleavage, well, they are going to be rather upset when the game comes. LOL

with some of the releases, I'd say I would be more afraid of all the penisia (extra credit to whoever gets that word's reference). I'm still haunted by that weird snake neck'ed dog thing holding a gigantic alien looking johnson O,o

Elric - luckily the more extreme KD releases (forge god, wet nurse) are not part of the KD. The Lion God is close, but a bit more subtle.

I dunno, i think the lion god's thingy looks more like a dinker then the rest. Course it is a nightmare universe, and i dunno bought you guys but being chased by a huge monster with its dinker hanging out is pretty damn scary to me.

Back on topic. The old man looks pretty good, what are you using as a base? Its looks neet. I started Taelors skin on my own mini, but i got hung up on what color i wanted her clothes to be. I like your Blue take on that, i never imagined her in a blue and she looks good with it. You going to got for NMM on the hammer of construct bloweyupness?

When i start looking for inspiration i look to other peoples stuff here, deviant art, my heavy metal magazine collection and their website, WD magazine(yeah i know), see what my favorite canvas painters are up too, and check the 19023919203 websites about mini's i have bookmarked. Hope some of that helps.

Btw the game(Malifaux) can seem really confusing at first, and i HIGHLY suggest sticking to just one crew to learn and play a few games with before trying a different one. Each master has a very very different feel to them and then when you start building your own up they change that much more. Well most do anyways.

Thanks Moe. I haven't gotten to figuring out the old man's base. As for Taelor, I'm just kind of winging it (but yes to the NMM). Painting her has made me want to look at the rules again. So much so that I brought them, as well as my fate decks and both my freikorp and viktorias with me. Maybe a game will break out during painting breaks LOL.

Looking good, Tryst. I have been focusing on Warmachine lately, as well. Get to try new stuff and just have fun with painting.

Milosh is correct, you keep getting better and better. Great job.

Today was an excellent day for painting. Had a friend come by for some one on one time. He's painted armies, but after being exposed to the mini world outside of GW (thanks to me), he wants to take his first steps towards being a better painter. Why he chose to take those first baby steps on KD minis is beyond me *evil cackle*. Anyways, I showed him the finer points of wet palettes, thin paints, blending and such. I needed a mini to help demonstrate some of this, so I grabbed the next member of the Viktorias, Johan. His skin is a bit more pink than I had hoped for, but I actually am OK with the way it looks.

That was a good several hours, getting from Sanguine Base to Tallarn Flesh.
Then I got to work in a painting mood, and work cooperated. I'll take submission pics tomorrow with the camera/tent, but I finished Taelor:

Until tomorrow.
*edit* she's not glued to her base yet. That white blob is blu tack.

Johann is looking really beefy! That was hard to say with a straight face, I just could't think of another word to describe the muscles. Anyhoo, Taelor is looking great ! On my Taelor her left shoulder strap kinda disappears before it gets to her shoulder, does yours have the same issue?
