I try to go forward, improving the skin blending and overall color atmosphere...
For the blade struggling on the TMM, need to redo it tomorrow, spent an evening painting something which at the end is not good. I am not used to TMM, actually painting it in NMM will be easier, but I really try to push myself for improving my TMM. I try to apply NMM rules to TMM but I put too much contrast. I even cannot show the picture it look really terrible...
I would like to give Cannibal the paint job is deserving, crossing continents, finally getting rid of the jet lag for having a bad paint job at the end is a no-go. I will take my time and make the best of it!

Ok I need some help. I tried again tonight with my TMM... Still quite hard. Knowing that this little fellow has quite some blades and not easy to place highlight and shadow.
I need some of your highlights to show me the way for improvements. On top of it sI am not so sure about the overall color scheme, any advice?

Thank you Moe, but still need improvements...
I changed some colors and add some details, eyes, devil head, belly plate...
I am not sure the direction it is taken, any advice or point of view?

he looking great so far, very different... agree with the highlights also.....
It was the scissor part I meant
but it might just be difficult to get it corectly onto a photo with TMM. So if they are ready in RL don´t touch them more.

Almost finish my Cannibal, my major difficulty was the TMM, still not 100% satisfied but after redoing it 3 times I have given up and it was my last try unless somebody has really good advice how to paint these huge scissors in TMM ;-)
I think that goliath will be done in NMM... Need to practice my TMM, will wait for my Reaper Bones...

For TMM I have used diffrent strong metalic colurs first to "create" shadows and colurs simular to a NMM areas, after that I usually use washes and inks very diluted to give warm and cold colours.
I for one havent dared to try NMM yet so that will be a challenge in the future. There is a tutorial by autonom regarding metalics somehwere. It is a very good start to look at that one.

Long time no news... Actually I and my little family just moved in a new apartment. Packing all the WIP and finished mini was not easy! Spent hours on it, but finally found new place for them!
So I just started paint again... I still need to base many miniatures finished. But I am not in a basing mode, so I started my Goliath, my goal for this mini is to use NMM only done with wet blending only, so here my first steps, it took me something like 2h to reach. Actually this technique is quite fast...

Thank you Kretcher... I will give it a try! But to be honest I am now more comfortable using NMM than TMM... I will push myself and try new techniques!

Ok long time no post... But I have painted a lot. I have tried oils, I have finished some of my ogres for my never ending army. I have improved my skills at airbrushing, so much stuff was done since last post.
So I am working on a mini I would like to finish in about 5 hours, I have spent 2 hours on it with the following results, I am quite happy about it but would like to have your feedbacks. I have tried complementary colors, dark green blue vs orange brown. I have shadowed my two base with the complementary color then highlight with off white then glaze of the complementary again... I really tried to be extreme to see how it will work, what do you think? You have this cool shadow for the down part of the cloak then warmer highlight, and reverse for the middle cloak.

I really like the colour harmony and it have a good "overall" feel too it. And I would myself very much want to reach a result like this in 2 hours... far from that at the moment.
In regards to the NMM on the figurre before I believe even more contrast is needed to get it even better. Not that I have doen NMM for myself yet. well not much just a small golden part on a cloak.
Also wondering what is your own thoughts about using wet blending techniques? I am thinking to try it out, just haven´t gotten there yet.

Thank you Kretcher, I just saw that I have a problem on the front bottom part of the cloak (too blue)!
In the 2 hours, I didn't count the preparation and the black + white basecoat with airbrush. Just the first color base then shadow and highlight to arrive to the results shown on the picture. Actually the wet blending makes the basic highlight + shadow much faster after you can adjust it with glazes. It is maybe not suitable for GD winner but already really good. Even if Ben Komet and others good painters used it quite often with stunning results! I think the best is to mix it with layering technique and you can achieve really good results. The most difficult part in wet blending is the thinning of the paint. It should not be too thick neither too thin.
My technique is as follow: First I base coat with the medium tone color, when completely dry I do my shadow by adding darker color in the area then push it to the lighter area then I quickly take little bit of the mid color and starting from my lighter area I push it to the darker area, with a small movement I blend the two color together. The first pass is never so good. I think that one of the secret, you need to start over 2 or 3 times after the first one is dry. you wet blend several time with slightly more diluted paint and you get really good blending. then you adjust with layering. After you do the same with the highlights. You can add some drying retardant to your paint at the beginning, but more your practice this technique more enjoyable it gets with better results. It can be frustrating at the beginning but you will feel it right after a while... and I am far to be an expert of wet blending.

ive also started to use wetblending at first stage sometimes, sort of a roughly blended basecoat. saves a lot of time
anyway great job on goliath n cannibal, just received a copy myself, really great minis!

Thanks SkeletteS, yes they are great mini I just received the 2 new ones from Stéphane (forgot their names)! Didn't started them yet, too many stuffs at the same time, but when Cannibal base is finished and Goliath in a more advanced stage, I will start them!
