Just when things were getting quiet again....

Andy, for my personal growth I am trying to follow your example by picking some minis that just look like they will take NMM well. So I have gone and ordered these. First is Daphos from Hassle-free, next is a Chaos Dwarf from Forgeworld. Your mini selection is reputed to be Da Bomb, so thought I'd get your opinion of these:

Oh yes well done! The elf is spot on! If you look at the beginning of ten balls wip you will find he did this mini in nmm with pictures and everything so you could take a look at that to get an idea about light placement colours etc etc. it will help you a lot. Th chaos dwarf looks very grotesque should be a great paint job.

Funny you say that. It actually isn't the same mini, but it is damn near close and when I saw it I was reminded of Ten Ball's first WIP. He painted Ceril "the Brooding Elven Lord," and the above is Daphos, "Twisted Dark Elf Anti-Hero." Either way, same idea. Angular plates of armor with scale mail just begging to be painted NMM. The dwarf has the same, plus I find all the creases on his face will give him a lot of character. Your taste is commendable so it pleases me that you likey.

I Triple Dog Dare you to make one of these your next project. Ha! Just kidding (no I'm not(joking)seriously, paint this!!!!) Good day.

I could say the nmm is awesome on the new mini, but that is obvious. So what else can i comment on.....hey the blue star field on the minis plinth is a unique twist for a base. Lol. :laugh:

Some angles of the guy looks really fantastic andy. really good job.

i better head back in shame with my metallics. i mean, TMM is basically just a basecoat and a wash, right? TMM?! a 3yr old can do it! ¤&/%#¤#/(&"!!

I didn't start it this time Skelletets honest it was this lot (points finger at ritual kretcher and others) .....oh shit I've just pissed off everyone now err that's it I'm officially going to have to run away and hide from all things Sweedish.......they'll set polar bears on me!;)

i really like this. t´s kind of odd seeing such a dark and evil character get painted in such a clean scheme tho. not sure what to think;)

edit: you can never defeat the polar bears. our moose riders will crush you aswell.

Well look out for Ischa he has a wildboar that he uses, a really mean one. we just need to build ourself a longboat to go visit England, like in old times...just that this time we have a fixed city and address too visit ;)

Yeah ischa I know I was going to do a dirty rusty gore covered armour but as I started doing the clean metal it just started going so well (for me) that I went sod that! It's gonna be shiny he can be a king ogre or something instead!

er just read the last bit and kretcher. oh shit oh shit oh shit got goddamn Vikings on my ass!!!!

Oh great!!! Just frickin' great!!! Now, no matter how good it comes out for me, Ten will have done it better in 4 hours with 4 colors. :(

Seriously though, I searched to the end of the internet and couldn't find a well painted version of this. Thank you for providing me with a template from which to shamelessly copy. Though I don't know why so many choose to paint him in red. I'm thinking dark smokey steel maybe.

PS-Apologies if I am stepping on your thread Andy. I'll shut up now :)

Andyg thank you so much for that display of not only talent to apply this method but being very adept at writing this application down . I can't tell you enough how thankful I am to have you respond to a technique that many attempt but do not understand it well enough to pull it off its execution as you have done. A big thanks.
