hey friends, it is... an .... actual update! wooooow! think im the slowest painter in the world right now.

but, not much left on the marine, just the arm holding the sword (obviously). im taking in ideas for base as we speak.
im thinking him standing on another chapters banner, anyont knows if there was any chapter that emperors children fought in particular during the heresy?

anyway, onto the pictures. he pretty much refuse to do well there but i think these are fairly ok. just pushed "auto level" on these no else photoediting.

edit: oh, and the etched brass things on the shoulderpads sadly didnt work, backpack in the way unfortunately

Shoulder still looks amazing colors are so fantastic and that is one badass bath towel!

Skel...this is amazing. Seriously one of the best Space Marines I have seen. That purple looks incredible.

Question. Some of your spot highlights are just so subtle. I'm talking the glare dots that are here and there. Do you make some of them subtle by putting a white dot down, then glazing a super thin layer of purple over it, to knock it back a bit???

Wow, he looks really cool. I believe the emperors children fought with the iron hands legion, the primarchs had a big duel. They also fought against the salamanders and raven guard, Eldar too if you want to do something a little more alien.

Then I'd go with the Salamanders. Make their banner primarily yellow, secondarily green, that way it compliments the purple.

yeah, thats basically it. i use bright purple or pink as a glaze on the glare dots. speaking of it i have to correct some of them, like on the chestplate. i have deliberately not showed the chest area as much love as the other areas though (tmm isnt perfect there lol), as he will cover most of it with the sword.

Super... the tabard caught my eye, a few notches up on the contrast would give it bling a la armour, tmm rox

If your going for just as they've turned (because he has a tabbard with an aquilla) you also have death guard, sons of horus and his own chapter to choose from for the banner

There was a purge of loyal elements of the mechanus too. However, iron hands were the real grudge match.

You always build your bases first? So the base and mini match well???

yeah i normally do. main reason is that when the time comes to paint the base, you just want it done so you can proceed to next mini, ending up rushing it. for me its always better to have a ready built base to begin with.

That's actually a good tactic, one I should be adopting... I've got a tray of 30-odd marines sitting on my desk, all with their feet glued firmly to the bases, so my only option for basing is some basic flocking with the odd stray rock here and there... Basing is boring like that

Wow! Amazing as alwais. Really a nice paintwork. I'm particularly amazed by the shoulderpad and tabard texture. How do you do that? Is it complicated to achieve? I would love to try it :curl-lip:
