Hi all. Time to get you all updated on my progress. I had a cold too, so I was stuck in bed doing nothing. Still, two weeks should be enough to get it finished.
I made some WIP pics and combined them in one picture.
As I said, the throwback with my first basing and colouring made me look around in internet for ideas. I came across those many beautiful chinese landscape paintings and decided to take one I like and adapt it as background, with the Monkey King flying in it. So here you see how I made the idea work:
1., Made a wooden frame and made the mountains out of a hobby shop putty adding some cork.
2., Here you can see the printed painting (copyshop) I decided to take as background. It's actually a famous chinese painting, but shame on me, I forgot the name of the painter.
As you can see I tried to copy the shape of the mountains in the lower foreground.
3., checking if the mountains fit with the painting. 90% okay, so up to next step. Just for info: There are two tiny men walking across a bridge between the two mountains. I wanted to let them be seen in my version too.
4.; Just black primered. Than I airbrushed AK Dark Tracks (AK729) and AK German Grey Beige (AK722) over it. I love the AK colours, can be airbrushed right out of bottle if you need.
5., I put 3 massive pins inside the cloud of the Monkey King, to really keep him into place once it's finished. They are longer as needed now. When I'm attaching it I'll cut them in length and fix them with fluid resin (MIG productions).
6.; After deciding where I put the little fella I drilled 3 holes into the backside
7.; Taddaaaaah! A magical flying Monkey King over a chinese landscape.
Next will be to hide the pins and sculpt (scared....*gulp*) a cloud. I think the cloud in the story of the Monkey King has a name right?....hmm
Hope you like it so far and get an inspiration.
and Maxxxxx: GET WELL SOON!!
