But where's the gold you won last year?
Oh I know, it's been made into a medallion for your hairy chest ! :)

Nah the case containing the gold medal glows with mystical white light when opened and this plays in the background

OK I'm attempting an experiment here.
This photo was taken on my phone I'm attempting to up load here.

Edit:- Well that worked, just need to work out how to rotate it.
The Figure is from Nuts Planet and is Salah ad-Din Yussef ibn Ayyub otherwise referred to as Saladin, by those of us unable to cope with Arabic speech patterns. It's not easy as my little friend Naeema keeps pointing out when she's correcting me.

Some lovely stuff there mike it really was a beauty pageant for painting geeks!

On the photographing i find that fancy slr digital cameras are excellent for taking pictures of people and landscapes and nature and whot not but unless you really really know what your doing with then they are absolute shite for taking pictures of minis. The light exposure has to be right mini macro setting has to be right the focusing is a pest and then you've got to upload them to a computer and piss about in gimp or photoshop resizing layering blah blah blah. Also the dreaded auto flash!!! Never ever ever use flash when taking pictures of minis it completely washes out all the subtle colours and shading and gives glints and highlites that don't exist.

I always use my phone it might not be as fancy as the camera but it has two major advantages firstly all that fidly stuff is done for you. You just carefully take a picture in reasonable light conditions without the flash and it nearly always takes a good picture. Also you can quickly email yourself the picture at a reduced size and then save the reduce sized picture to your photos on the phone no need to f*ck about on gimp its done for you and then of course you can upload the picture onto Coolmini forums direct from the phone no need for the computer at all much much more convenient and far better quality. Honestly the cameras are not worth it at all mines gathered dust for the last couple of years other than holidays and birthdays.

The sideways thing is easy if its an iPhone you just take the photo holding the phone landscape it took me bloody ages of frustrating searching for the solution on the internet to finally have my wife (who takes far more pics on her phone than me) to tell me the quick solution.

Andy, normally I leave the DSLR on Program mode for Euro and set an underexposure with the flash at -1.7
Numpty'd this year as I'd not used the camera in a while and forgot to check the settings.
But still I got some decent pics in the end.

The problem with the iPhone/Mobile phone camera is the lack of care. I saw so many people almost touching other models with their phones at the weekend and lost count of the times I heard stewards warning people about it.

And as a former Darkroom affectionado playing about post production is half the fun. I love the smell of developer in the morning

Oh well mate horses for courses. I got to agree about the lack of care with some of the people there I was putting my minis on the stand and people were leaning on the bloody stand and shaking it every where with no regard for what they were doing very rude!

The standard is mind boggling. Legion of the Cow and Eavier Metal took plenty of pics, but the most outstanding thing for me were the flats. I had no idea something like that could be painted to such an impossible standard!

As an aside, AndyG, did you grab my stuff :) ?

Kelvin, the Flats ARE really awe inspiring, some of the figures were only 20mm and still vivid and highly detailed.
The Prince Ivan and the Firebird has really inspiring Freehand on it.

Picked up a couple as well to work on, one of which is tiny.
