I'm intending to do the bricks something like this:
Hopefully Lord Chompy Bits won't disappoint. I'm thinking about making him more colourful the further out of the portal he is - as if he's solidifying in our reality. And the main colour focus on the front side is going to be on The Dreamer on his bed.

Hi all. I've been blessed to have you all take an interest in my work and share your knowledge and experience with me.
My good friend Bevan (YetiSA) is largely responsible for introducing me to mini painting and CMON. Although I hope you don't hold that against him. He's working on a Joker model as a Christmas gift for his brother and needs some advice. If you have a chance please pop past his WIP thread.

Like the brick colour inspiration. Maybe experiment with some pigments to get the nice matt, dusty look that bricks have as well.

Ooh - that's a potential plan. It'll depend on what the shading etc looks like, but I'll definitely keep it in mind as an extra effect.

II'm thinking to go in the direction of a dark desaturated red or red purple....this way your two complimentery colors of desaturated green and desaturated red show some harmony....now I'm not talking a Christmas red and green....I'm talking some type of darker deeper not so red but a brown red,or as I've mentioned red purple ..when highlighting these reds you use ,instead of analogous color of oranges and yellows, you'll use a bit of white or beige in increasing amounts.just some thoughts...REM color theory is always at work for the best results and finished paintjobs...picking colors are as important as the techniques of blending laying etc etc.....refer to Betty Edwards ....when we start randomly picking colors sometimes we can get in hot water,I know at least I do.very nice greens ,creepy eyeball,great job thus fsr...and as Dragonsreach stated use some different tones this should add realism and take away the monotony and the sameness and add authenticity in your piece.

@KruleBear - Thanks, I'm glad you think so.
@BAM - Thank you for the extra ideas. I do pay attention to your advice, I just sometimes experiment as well. The brickwork is going to be fun and will hopefully give the mini some "realism" as well as depth by the time I'm finished.

Road Trip (part 1)
My man and I drove for eight hours today to visit my mum for a few days and go to a friend's wedding. So updates will be scarce.
Then back home again for a few days over Christmas before we're off to see my man's folks for two weeks. But models will be taken there.

On a different topic, if you feel the need to get some 'other' mins, join the next mini exchange! That will usually land you some very unusual minis. You'll get some stuff that's no good for 'artsy' (i.e. display) painting, but you can also get some very very nice ones.
