I just started painting an Oruk Warboss myself and I hit a bit of a motivational wall, your WIP has reignited my drive, so I thank you! Looking good, the spots on the skin are a unique touch, don't think I have seen those done on an Orc before. Points for originality. Clean paint as always with vibrant colours. Looking forward to what you do with the armour.

Will you putting up a little guide as you progress as you have done on many of your works. Wouldn't mind giving this mini a go. Seems popular among painters.

You and BAM are killing it on these orcs! WOW!

Sorry to ask you as well, but what are the greens you are using? They are so vibrant.

I'll be putting together a more detailed description for my blog in the next week or so but for the meantime here are the colours:
Base - GW Death World Forest & Rakarth Flesh mix

Shadows - Vallejo Dark Sea Blue, GW Rhinox Hide, Scalecolour Sunset Purple.

Mid tones - GW Death World Forest, Scalecolour Sherwood Green, Scalecolour Blood Red.

Highlights - GW Death World Forest, GW Death World Forest & Rakarth Flesh mix, Vallejo Ivory.

Hi David, do you know if you will be displaying Gutrot Spume in your local GW ? I'd love to pop up there and see it first hand.

Nice to see you doing the Orc (or whatever they're called these days).

Sorry, No plans as yet.

Yes, I'll be recording my progress (or lack of it) on my blog.

Spot on BAM. Which makes me wonder....Sprocket what gets a multiple slayer sword winner inspired? I have always loved your artistry.

That's an interesting question.

All sorts of things inspire me not least seeing a mini that grabs my attention and makes me want to paint it. Other painters and their work inspire me. It may be a colour scheme, composition, particular technique or an awesome paint job that makes me want to give it a go. I'm fairly driven about my painting and I'm definitely inspired to try and constantly improve my work. Films, TV, Books and artwork all give me ideas. My interest in Egyptology and ancient history are a major source of inspiration and museum trips are a great for getting ideas and reference.

All these things go into the mix and can bubble away in the back of my mind for years.

I'm going to be trying something on my Orruk Megaboss that was inspired by a trip to Birmingham art gallery back in 2013. It's one of those things I stored away for later use but I'm not quite ready to reveal it yet.

Speaking of the Megaboss here are some up-to-date pics. I removed the jaw guard, and trimmed it down so more of the face is visible, before reattaching it.

That is some next level texture going on there....insane.

trying to work out how you've achieved that....almost looks like micro pointillist stuff or a sponged texture...

looks insane whatever ever you have done.

Criminy, Mr. Soper. Yeah, you're basically doing like 'real' painting on tiny (unprimed) plastic pieces of shit. Next level, indeed.
Out of curiosity, are you an art forger by day or something?

I'm not getting much time to paint at the moment as I've at lot (all good) on my plate with my forthcomming holidays, workshops and retirement. So I probably won't get back to a regular painting schedule untill mid August! However this is not a hobby where being too busy stop you buying even more stuff to fill up your time. I just couldn't resist her!
