My painting skill matches that of an average four-year-old. It is OK, the nerves that control my finger motions have been damaged. Before the damage, My skill level was a couple more years advanced. 
My wife suggested miniature painting as a form of therapy. I find it easy to have the world stop while I have a brush in my hand, almost a Zen like experience.
