Hope you found it, just got a notice of your question sadly...been a long time. Sorry.
Yeah i found them with the time capsule :) 2 sets of each so my collection is complete on this one. Thanks for the concern!
This house rule is what we use when an army is lead by an House Bolton commander. I just thought i'd share it in case others would feel like using it.
It's based on the barded heavy cavalry...
Giants can be minced if charged by a potent unit with sundering (or anything that prevents saves or deals in wounds). The same charge might not be as good vs the Thenns, especially with Weakened...
Welcome here then :)
That would be a good question to post in the Rules forum, which tends to be quite active here too
I've used them with the Lord of Bones to help thinning a rank on units before melee with their traps. They are quite fast, too. You can put the Weeper in there as well, his order has long range just...
At this point, here we decided that once all factions are out, we'll make house rules for all the neutral themes...just examples:
House Bolton will have its own tactic deck and will be...
I was really surprised they didn't come with an attachment, too. Theme-wise, it'd have been good to have more than Vargo Hoat for a Mummer army, from the Neutral perspective.
If the mummers were...
There's nothing broken entirely in this game...it might simply be a clash from my own vision of how unsullied should perform, after all, so it might be just me. I expected exceptionally strong morale...
We improve the hit rate by 50% going from a 3+ to a 2+ (66% hit rate to 83%). It's significant.
10 Dice at 2+ is about 14 dice at 3+...that's huge, and that's how i compare it to other units. Of...
I wouldn't have minded if they would be tied to Grey Worm as commander, bit like the King's Guard is tied to Joffrey when he steps on the battlefield...but i find it odd to believe that all Unsullied...
I'd add 4 points to the solo player, as a relative value to the other free commander that the team of 2 gets. They're at least worth more than any other unit attachment, and also can give additional...
I hope they're not final.
Best quality around, too.
If you want to include mummers, i'd go for Zorse Riders rather than the skirmishers. Their flank charge is pretty good and can protect cutthroats with the weakened token they provide(or the zorse...
If i remember correctly, they did state that R'hllor will get a great ranged unit. That could make the "when this unit is destroyed" on the Faithfuls token effect more usable by then. I expect...
Great analysis. I do hope that the data they will collect this year will keep track of the loyalty players are using. I foresee that the results for Renly will be different than with stannis.
And...
Yeah...saw that on the FB group...i mean, my loyalty will always go to Stannis, but comparing the two, i don't know...is it me? It might be that the grass looks greener where roses grow...
It's...
Indeed. The only saving grace there is that mummers can create their own token.
Cutthroats can provide vulnerable (which is huge too), but that's more valuable for say...Sir Rodrik Cassel.
I think that they're made to go with Tywin or the Goat as commanders, and that's pretty much it. Pycell seems mandatory to get enough tokens.
The Mummers are not as strong as cutthroats, but in a...
What you did works (4 armies). That's also something possible: have the single player build 2 armies (of his faction) with 2 generals, and so that would balance it out better. It works on 2v2 and...
Yeah i guess, but the idea was to keep to the theme of the lord of bones.
Blending a tactic deck is asking for trouble, imho. Not saying it is not fun, or that it should not be done for fear of the end of the world, but if balance is what is being discussed.
a) there...
Balance will go the way of the Flayed Men if you start mixing faction units and cross applying tactic decks. Look what happened to that unit after it started appearing in NW and Targ forces...
...
Depends on the army you're going to battle with.
Craster is important if: a) you are fishing for more tactic card cycling and b) if the units you have are worth healing for 2 in the first place. ...
Yeah, i'll try that next time
Chosen with Lord of Bones,

I've played this match up yesterday, and unsurpringly the Dothraki just -wiped- the floor with the Free Folk.
Have anyone played this match up before? How did it go?
Targaryen ran the basic...
I think that Robb is one of those commanders who can control the game if you let him be. Going to "battle" with a plan is good, but that plan will fail if it meets Robb Stark. I think that's...
I ususally have around 9 activations with FF armies i build at 40pts...even 8 sometimes (giants, "elites).
It is logical too...the game will go where it can carry itself. If they make good money from it (or think they can make more) we'll see more material.
I do remember the "roadmap" of 9 factions...
Since Asmodee got that distribution right, pre-ordering has been chaotic...and that's me staying nice. My local store has given up on the game due to that, even if i had a "get me 2 of everything"...
Thenns are interesting with the Chosen of Styr being a rather efficient attachment. I could see using more than one of those.
Dreadfort Captain
Flayed Men (4 sculpts)
Catelyn Stark
Visor-down Knights of Casterly Rock
I usually end up with 2, but the decision depends entirely on the army i am building. Some faction/commanders will favor few or more.
For example, if i think i can get away with 1 NCU, and bring...
I've fought the Starks twice under Robb with a Stannis-led, warden focused army. The scenario was the basic 5 objectives to grab and hold, so i had to move and that's really their game.
I've lost...
That 1pt tax seems pretty "on point" to me for most neutrals...we can even see that they are putting mecanism to "circumvent" that tax with stormcrows's rule (-1 cost for attachments). They should...
Eh i mainly wanted to spark a discussion about house bolton and how the changes made solely "because they are neutrals" sucked from my perspective. Imho in light of the past years, they should not...
It depends what commander you've got too. If you take Roose as commander, then Flayed Men still make some sense...don't get me started on this but anyway, i would never get more than 1 unit of these...
I do not play competitively, but i do remember the polls by On the Table which put the Neutrals at the square bottom of the pile, along with Free Folk for some time. I've played enough games vs...
Couldn't be furthest from the case where i am concerned. If i wanted to win at all costs, my wife (which is the most frequent player i play with) wouldn't have as much fun as we do. We play thematic...
Indeed, i can relate with these kind of "incremental" changes, because that's what have ruined Malifaux for us. Cards couldn't stay "official" for long, being corrected and then a new edition of the...
I've honestly had issues with Mance, so far i've used him with what's in the starter set. Giants and raiders/trappers. The idea is to get as many units that can benefit from his "morale 6" rule,...
In a way i agree with you, they are starks bannermen after all. Stormcrows should be Targaryen only for all i know. But we need to find a solution with what we have now. The main issue right now is...
I take trappers when i need support crew rather than front line units.
@Mr. Badger: you're not alone, Mance -really- needs help in commander form. Rattleshirt well, he got help some bits but i...
Flayed men out of charge context have a worse attack profile than 5 point units...so whatever "sustain" they say they have, or "keeping their power outside of the charge" is pure illusion. No one in...
I am not at all against change. I am unhappy about -why- they make those changes from my own perspective (the marginal Bolton theme player), and what they are doing is essentially admitting that the...
Honestly i am fine with 4 units in my army, all of them were designed during the KS (black guards being teased at).
I have 4xcCutthroats, 4xBlack Guards, 2xWar Dogs, 2xBarded horses heavy...
I agree with that. What bugs me is that it was obvious even back then...and i assumed that we'd see tighter rules to recruit them. Part of the issue is that Boltons are an iconic faction of the lore...
Honestly, the changes didn't make that much sense from a Bolton player's perspective. Even CMON didn't think they were OP let alone broken.
The Bolton army had enough flaws as it was and it was...
One use I've found is to "soften up" ranks for the Lord of Bones' tactic cards.
alright, seems i am the only one that's not happy.
This is house rule territory.
That said, i wondered what would be your stance (for casual games of course) if someone would ask to play with the original card from the Flayed Men in the context of...
Personally, i don't mind the 4-5 giant lists as long as it provide a fun challenge. Besides, players should be able to field whatever they want if they find it cool. Ideally, -every- list should be...
I just discovered that the Lord of Bones really hate fighting Dothraki...an all cavalry army has few ranks to destroy, and they are more resilient than infantry (6 wounds instead of 4). That means...
I've received both starter sets and nothing was broken either.
You'll find people who will curse that giants are not strong enough. Alot of people will state that a good bet is to not attack it until you can kill it. I haven't found this to be viable all the...
Because i don't use facebook much so i use forums for my hobbies, so i look here more often than the "social network" folk.
Also, Stag Knights can become Vicious, and from what we get of Melisandre, the R'hllor crew might like to play the panic game to some extent. We don't know what the new Stannis version will do, but i...
That's what these forums are for so no worries.
In the end it does mean that, for the purpose of resource management, the Wardens have this little extra benefit with Stannis, who seem to enjoy...
I'm confident enough because version 1.5 of the rulebook seems very clear to me:
Defender Rolls Defense Dice: For each Hit, the defender
will then roll 1 die. Each roll equaling or exceeding...
Well the FAQ specifically address the case where a player would want to use Target Opening right after Warhammer, which doesn't work because the Warhammer ability can only be declared when the dice...
When you compare her to Selyse, we can guess why the One True King failed his vow...i fully expected her to be 5pts and have such sacrifice capacity. Facing the Red Woman is scary. She'll want ways...
What you can't do is to use a Weakened token just created by the warhammer rule as a Vulnerable token in the same attack, but nothing prevents the spending of that token for Tactical Approach.
So...
I honestly doubt so. Move 3 would charge really badly. Flayed Men were 2+ for a long while with speed 5, and they were not unbalanced. It just created too many combos that needed to be taken into...
I openly hope that they will revisit the Neutral faction once their initial roadmap are done. Seeing Flayed men with dothraki and Khal Drogo makes me cringe...i know we're supposed to take "what ifs"...
The issue with Hunters might be to find how they fit in the Night's watch grand scheme of things. Quick Fire (why do they use firearms terms with archery is beyond me) could help, but would it bring...
Trackers have been really good for me, so i couldn't see any change to them. Shooting in the flank will cripple a unit...and they have the speed to pull that off easily, even with short range. They...
I think the biggest reason (speculation hat) is that the last book has not come out yet. That book will likely hold more detail on the white walkers than all others combined...so by that time, CMON...
They did mention that the 2+ available to all was an issue (unofficial Podcast) and iirc the example mentioned was the Night's Watch. They also stated (official news article) that idea was that...
I agree entirely. The scorpion is where it's at.
I -really- hope they will improve the scorpion's synergy with Otell Yarwick (commander) while at it. I's probably the unit which benefits the least...
I think i heard a shirt rattle in the distance...and the NW is weeping quite a bit.
I.E. both Rattleshirt and the Weeper are happy about this...as these commanders wanted tough units that could...
I think they are not done entirely so we might see other changes. They seem to have gone by release order pretty much, starting with stuff from the Kickstarter and now tackling the more recent...
Halberdiers definitely caught up with the crowd with that update.
Warrior sons are niche for the High Sparrow, and in that context 1.5 was great for them.
I think you might just not like the...
I get what you mean, although here's my take on this:
NW always was a great performer, but mainly due to specific combos...over time the same thing was used ad nauseam.
What i mean is that...
As we could guess, the changes are coming along for the Night's Watch.
What do you think about them?
Conscripts can now have vows and are insignificant.
Certainly, i haven't revisited this thread since 1.5, as i wanted to play more games before judging the impact of it. I'll come back to it in time since this seems fun to chat about.
After further inspection, It seems that the 4 Veterans models are potential attachments, split between Screamer and Outrider KO. This means that putting an attachment (such as your commander) in the...
The whole starter set is really well produced and looks amazing on the table, with the exception of this odd little thing: they both have the same artwork? I don't think there's a precedent for it...
Yeah, i am a Bolton player and would never add these into my Baratheon forces...unless in a campaign with some narrative element that would promote such alliance.
I am also impatient (in a good...
I wouldn't worry too much for Stannis. Keep in mind that due to the Loyalty split of this faction, the starter set has to be the most vanilla possible, meaning that the commanders (with said loyalty)...
Oh i expect something much more solid than that somehow. In fact, I always saw them as pre-1.5 Flayed Men: 2+ save, 6+ morale, 8/6 dice with critical blow and the same rules as wardens Warhammer to...
I have two Targaryen starters coming in, no idea how the store got them (from Toronto). Will keep an eye for broken things.
Obviously we can't expect games workshop style of stock/inventory, but...
I'd say that Bolton cutthroats are perhaps the best match for Stannis. I know Michael Shinall talked about the Blackguards, but honestly the Baratheons have a better unit in the Wardens. For 5...
GW's strategy battle game from lotr is probably the closest you could get to use those miniatures in a "non-tray" style game. Then again, GW's War of the Ring (now long gone) was extremely similar to...
That's also my thoughts, can't wait to put that to the test....sadlythe starter sets haven't arrived yet (local store just doesn't know when, but i did find 2 boxes in Canada so...will get them this...
There's no telling what they'll do once the game will be fleshed out. Perhaps they'll even produce a joust format game for tournaments.
That's a well thought out and articulated point of view. Thanks for the imput, i appreciate. The Stag knights offer impressive capacities...and even though there is a vocal outcry on the unit cost, i...
Yeah i think there's a little confusion.
The Flayed Men Charges.
They put a panic token on the target (if the charge is successful successful)
They make an Attack and if they cause any...
We're supposed to see the Targaryen's set this week-end here too...or at least i hope. As you say, and that's what i tell my local store: if you're not fast in getting stock as soon as its released...
I think Sentinels have more omph going with Renly...although that's my bias perhaps, but he can make the unit stand a lot longer, and boost their already good offense.
Nothing so far, but i bet they'll be the closest thing to pre-change Flayed men (2+ defense, critical blow and some warhammer rule).
About the R'hllor thing...can't wait to learn more about...
They're all interesting, that Elder Eldon Estermont seems very good to me even though i won't really play with Renly...I hope Stannis will get some card cycling as well.
I highly encourage players to use the random terrain selection as stated above...it helps avoid the same terrain choices over and over (Boltons vs anything would end up with corpse piles and...
You mean on the CMON's shop?
Yes, but it is more expensive, and it does not serve CMON to push the game into stores.
It seems that my local store have problems pre-ordering stuff from Asmodee.
They tell me that they can't know in advance what they will be sent until a week before. As such we can't really secure...
We keep it to 40pts and 4'x4' seemed to be the best as otherwise we've figured that cavalry is too good dominant on a 6'x4' one.
No problems with Free Folk either.
I think that i may have more trouble with Stannis because i can't see the whole scope of his theme yet. As previewed on the FB group, Selyse (and Shireen) will give the R'hllor affiliation to a unit....
We can see Baratheon King's Men upcoming as well (Stannis Faction) at some stores, which are likely the characters we've seen pictured at Gen Con last year.
The attachment packs i've no idea at...
@MechMage: the reason i say it's still a hard counter is because it can kill the unit on the flick of a good dice roll. But now, at least, the unit can heal up if it survives the initial shot and the...
Indeed 1.5 changes everything for the Kingsguard...and i am very happy about it. The biggest flaw it had was its inability to be healed
The stone thrower is still a hard counter to this kind of...
Oh i think the same as well, i just let my imagination running wild a little is all.
How do you use the sentinels in this army? I've seen them focused down rather quickly due to average morale. They seem to be especially vulnerable to cavalry as these units can get into their...
Yeah i agree. Sentinels can be focused rather quickly, even if they do hit hard too. I really like Stannis in a Wardens unit as i stated in another thread. With Critical Blow, they get an okay-ish...
Had mixed results with Baratheons vs Starks (Rob Stark), won some lost some. I really prefer Stannis, personally, but that's a thematic reason, i think Renly is quite effective on paper based on what...
I wrote my idea unclearly i guess. They could be a unit of 4 lionesses working like a cavalry unit, perhaps with a dothraki rider to lead them. That'd be unique (like the bastard girls which are...
Quite interesting and i like the diversity they're going for. Since it's a boxed set in the plural form, I wonder if they'll be a unit of "monsters" sort of a cavalry styled Bastard Girls, or solo...
Very interesting comments at around 13 mins in Michael Shinall's podcast "1.5 unit analysis" that's just out. Nothing official (emphasis on that) but they are looking into this.
That's good news.
I'll eventually get 2 starter sets as well, My wife really likes the dothraki (more than Denerys...actually). Something that might give you hope is that they've re-used that image of a seriously...
You can't use that list unless you consider it was made in 1.4...so pre 1.5 updates. I've added a note on top of the thread to that effect. I might update it, but it'd be on my opinion only, i...
That's pretty early :), when's the official release date?
That said, please make them fight the Lannisters, Cercei as NCU.
Thanks for the procedure although i guess most know how to do this. I've done it for some cheaper games in the past. The result is never as nice as the original cards but it's a decent temporary...
It was a sarcastic comment, but it was "quite right"...you read "required" while i wrote "recommended". And no, we don't have phones nor Wi-Fi where we play, but that's just us and it's a choice to...
They might as well start stating "phone with an internet connection recommended" on the boxes...and just stop printing the cards while at it?
It'd be a shame really. This is not a backdoor...
Indeed, and CMON is going along their chronological line too (starting from Robert's death)...at that time Denerys is with Drogo and her dragons are not even born yet.
There are some on eBay at a "scalper's price"...
Otherwise the stores i usually check are all out of stock on them.
They might have proven a tad popular...pure speculation but i expect a...
I believe the reason they used the plural form (unlike the poor fellow) is because they have 2 occasions to use them.
That's good piece of analysis right there; If you think you'll need Stag Knights, might as well bring he Noble to enhance their purpose. I am still a bit nervous with a 7+ morale unit harboring...
Do you use the Followers of Bone at all with the Weeper?
So, which ones work well with the lists you run?
I'm curious about Mance Rayder...i found him a bit underwhelming. I could see the "cluster" of Morale 6 Raiders and Trappers, but outside of that,...
What commander have you used in those lists?
The starter set promises to be one of high mobility and aggression. All light cavary has not been seen often (if at all), except with the starks under Brandyn Tully...yet Dothraki will hit much...
Interesting to read for sure. With the new panic rules, it's a bit less of a problem to put a valuable attachment on a 7+ morale unit, too. I initially had discarded the sentinels a while ago due to...
Indeed, i think that the whole panic management will change. It's going to be interesting as Bolton players as we'll relearn some tactics. Also the Bastard Girls have entered the more useable range...
Oh for guardsmen i'd say we'll see them a lot, due to the synergy with Lannister supremacy as you mention and the fact that panic-induced wounds bypasses a massive 3+ defense, but perhaps less across...
I must raise my hat to the development team. They really did a good job with the revamp of panic tests.
It was simply too easy to protect against panic, and the Boltons suffered from that. This is...
That's the nice thing about print on demand services. Wargame vault is one of them and Malifaux has been using this for a while now. It's has been very useful to us. They could open the service for a...
As much as i dislike what they did to the Flayed men, i think that the bastard girls will perhaps be fielded more by Bolton players thanks to Vicious on the melee attack. At least i'll definitely...
I've suggested that as well so i wish they'd offer a deal like that. It also makes it more interesting for un-initiated onlookers if the game materials feel of good quality.
I can't decide what unit suits him best: Stag Knights or Wardens?
Stag Knights are faster (that inch matter!) and punch much harder, but they cost a ton...and with Stannis in there, will be having...
It's a combination of many factors, but in the games we've run with them, Giants were key in anything that worked.
Free Folk are made to overwhelm the foe with numbers; their tactic deck is loaded...
As in the title, i guess it's time for the one true king Stannis to have his own forum.
I suppose you're more the target audience then. I care about balance, and i care about theme and coherence just as much. With creativity, theme can always be represented in a balanced manner. I also...
If they focus too much on the competitive crowd, then yes this is what's going to happen (Malifaux is an example). GW is different as they focus their balance on what they want to sell more of.
...
That's still in the wild, but there was an artwork of a Vargo Hoat model with a helmet at one point. I think it was for a Game Night kit #3 set.
Mounted Stannis would make a lot of sense when he...
Yeah there might come a time when it's hard to know if the cards have been modified or not. We don't use smartphones when we play so i hope they do release a pack sometimes to keep track of things.
I echo this sentiment entirely. Boltons are my favorite army theme so far.
After the Blackguards's disappointment, this.
They lost 50% of their resilience with that change, it's absolutely...
Indeed, it's quite a lot of miniatures, but we really like the game/setting and it's the only game of this type that my wife likes (huge bonus there). Admittingly a bit annoyed with 1.5 Flayed men,...
Got the same issue in Qc city with the Thenns. It's actually the only unit i do not have atm.
edit: found them online after all (ontario), 3 of them incoming.
Yeah i didn't mention that one, given she's the "Blue guard" of the rainbow, i suppose that's 100% certain.
I had hoped that Tyrells would be "green" plastic to differentiate them more on the...
So Loras Tyrell, Margaery Tyrell, Olenna Tyrell, Renly Baratheon (like Stannis, perhaps Attachment version or NCU), Randyll Tarly, Mace Tyrell?
Short answer: we don't know
Fun answer:
It'll most definitely be released but there's not been any clues as to when and if the stats will remain the same. There has not been any mounted...
Edric Storm seems to be right, and Andrew Estermont would fit...as he's described as really tall and having a pointy beard.
The fat one could be Axell Florent?
I suppose that this Stannis...
Can we identify everyone?
Stannis, Ser Davos, Melisandre, Selyse and Shereen...but the kid, big fighter and fat one...?
Bone Followers suffer from a comparison to Thenns.
They have the same move, same dice on attack profile, but get +1 attack skill to hit in return for -1 defense. But then things go south: Thenns...
I love the Cave Dwellers for sure, but i've used them more as flankers than main infantry. The combo of both units is excellent as well (Thenns as anvils, Cave Dwellers as hammers).
I wholeheartedly agree, the Thenns are certainly their best infantry unit by a long shot. The only thing i wonder is if they'll become a clutch seen in every single competitive Free Folk army list....
From what i gather they'll have many sculpts over time. Likely they'll start as babies and then infant/juveniles...the books are where its at really, and so far they aren't nearly the size of the...
That version is pretty much unplayable and someone's wet dream.
I agree, but wanted more opinions as i have fielded them twice only. I was not impressed on both accounts. I'll change it to red.
NOTE: this was written within the context of rules versions 1.4
The game is balanced overall, we know this, but i wondered how people perceived the different units within their factions? Here's my...
I agree, the design seems to attempt to be a force multiplier for the triggers from failed panic checks, but in reality, it's a pretty bad tradeoff for a very marginal chance of getting more...
If anyone has been reading my posts about Blackguards, you probably know my opinion on the Horrific Visage ability.
I've ran alot of statistic checks between a unit having Vicious and another...
Please Delete
I'd probably also use what's already here for tough monsters (until they come up with rules for them). The Giant sustains one wound per 2 failed defense saves so that's an idea. This will allow you...
I think if one unit should have Horrific Visage, it's dragons. Also, they ought to have a morale value. They might not be keen to flee, but usually they are not wounded by anything...most people are...
Agreed, but nothing in the game has this good a chance to kill it so quickly. 11% on the first turn, precisely. We can all understand that the 6pts cost of the Kingsguard needs to be compensated...
The King's guard has been a puzzle for me so far...and with the advent of the Stone Thrower, able to literally pulverize this unit, it's not getting easier.
I get that we need to protect them...
No worries i am as much a fan as you are. They've done a great job so far, and more is coming so what's not to like. I think they suffered some leaks early on within their test files about the units...
They have been around for a while indeed. I suspect that the unsullied artwork for the unit is a placeholder. Shouldn't they be a tad smaller than normal men?
If the bloody mummers are any close...
I was looking at the new Bolton Flayer's card and the old Dreadfort Captain's and kept pondering.
The Dreadfort Captain's appearance makes him fit alot more with the Blackguard (plate armor and...
Yeah, i honestly think it's Cercei's and "Hear me Roar!" tax for that unit. We both agree on its value, this unit is a 5 pointer if you take the Neutral faction alone.
Take a look at p 8 "friendly" definition. It seems that he can heal himself as he is "friendly" to himself by that definition. If they want to be exclusive, they'll use "other friendly.."
Sworn Brothers for sure, there's few things more efficient for 6pts in the game.
The Bastard's Girls are pretty much his signature unit from the neutral faction, the synergy is right there.
Our Blades are Sharp is one of the most destructive card in the game. Since Ramsay has...
Yeah he's a freaking monkey :P
Since it's an order, at least they can only do it once per round.
Btw, do you guys recruit scorpions now that crossbowmen are out?
Agreed.
The difference i can see is that Crossbowmen -can- shift, while the scorpion cannot. So for the scorpion, the "from the front" is sufficient.
A target charging the crossbowmen could...
Sounds about right. In any case, you can always go wild and hire Lannister Knights lead by Gregor Clegane. Few giants will survive: D3 wounds + 9 dice with critical blow and sundering, re-rolled. If...
Yeah Tywin can seriously annoy Free Folk
While Giants don't usually care too much for weakness tokens (2+, even with a forced re-roll, is kind of easy), they really do care for what Tywin+Pycell...
What's funny is that they limited Scorpion Crews to 2 per army, but not Giants.
In any case, if you have access to Vulnerable (through the tactic board or another mechanic), the giants will fall...
It didn't start that way, most things were "soft counters" but we're seeing more "hard counter" things popping out, which i guess is normal if they want to diversify the factions. The most obvious...
Pyromancer Melee is great if you can boost their attack a bit. They have crap defense anyway so don't really care about the gian's ability. If Joffrey is your commander, one of his cards will boost...
Styr is about defense, and those Thenn Warriors will be really useful for him. Good morale (6+!) and decent defense (4+). With protection from charges/flank/rear modifiers, and able to taunt enemies...
Couldn't find that listing. I assume it's gone.
Any hits (no matter how many) from the giant's attack ability will trigger its effect, causing direct wounds thus cannot be blocked by defense saves. I believe Joffrey Baratheon, First of his name,...
That's probably what i'll do yeah. Too many hammers for my "suspension of disbelief" to work with. I'll definitely convert some of these to swords for a better look, and some of those hammers will be...
Brandyn Tully and Gregor Clegane as "Mounted Behemoth" version would be a valid target, yes, but not "The Mountain that Rides" as stated above.
What do you mean by "minimum activations"?
75239
Here you go, pretty nice models with 4 sculpts.
So i've received this unit yesterday.
75227
I really like this unit, the miniatures look nice and it is quite deadly too. It's basically elite Lannister Crossbowmen. I do like the weaponry...
This unit is all eggs in a basket. 9 potential hits, with severe drawbacks and some good things (no morale, but can't retreat nor shift and has absolutely no attack in melee).
I'd have thought...
Even though i won't play them, i can't wait for them to be on the table :). It will probably renew some interest too, as i think they are really awaited for.
Seems that Blackguards are definitely going to be like previewed. Oh they'll work fine for Lannister and Baratheon, but i am more concerned for Neutrals (specifically House Bolton).
That said,...
I'd think perhaps 10, total. The more time span, the bigger each faction becomes...and at one point the product line is just too large to be sustainable.
So let's see:
Starks
Lannister...
I do hope that it's not too powerful, that would be bad for the game as a whole. That said, the Baratheons are thematically much more straightforward than say...Lannisters, so it might be easier to...
I wish that the app was available on a normal web browser, but i suppose that's just me.
Walder Frey + NCU Joffrey could be very nasty.
By the way, was the stat card for the Bolton Blackguards on display?
What are the point costs for the units ? my guess was Wardens (5), Sentinel (6), Stag Knights (7)
It also depends on the game size you play at. In 50pts games those units might be easier to fit in.
That said, i agree that some units do raise a few question marks.
The Warrior's Sons are...
It seems that CMON sometimes partially previews cards, like what just occured with the Baratheon Wardens. The first time we saw their card, they didn't have their second ability "target opening". I...
For those of us who aren't too "facebooky"
Here's some interesting info posted by the Bolton Connection (M. Shinall we thank you).

I agree.
Perhaps they are tied to the production cycle of the factory they work with, too...and then it's boats and delays can make things go out of stock for a while.
As for power creep,...
Most of their games go the way of the dodo (i.e. extinct), especially fast in some case, but Song of ice and Fire was supposed to be very different from their usual model.
I do hope they'll fix...
What i could find on the interwebz is a picture of the card on pinterest:

When you control [wealth], this unit's Attack rolls +1 die and gains...
That's more than two cents!
Good ideas around for sure. I am also glad to see a recommendation for Eddard Stark. I think he is underestimated in some places (from what i read).
I used them with Tyrion as well. Got them in a good position and forfeited guardsmen activations for extra shots. Their attack is good against anything really. Guardsmen are great for this because...
I come to the same conclusions as Warlax above: The ability is too easy to control by the opponent.
Plus the coming factions will have great morale: Dothraki have like 5+ across the board, and...
I honestly think the Chosen will be exactly like Eddard Stark's Honor Guard: using regular miniatures. They'll probably be included in the Hero Box (with Rattleshirt) rather than the unit box set...
Just posting this in case someone ever wishes to use them:
Amazons and Cowboys health:
We switched the health values between Amazons and Cowboys teams. There are multiple reasons for this but...
