Let me start off by saying that I have a LOT of paintign experience (9+ years and a full shelf of painting awards and trophies), so don't be afraid to get technical or suggest anything really complex. What I'm looking for... is a tried and true way of smoothly and evenly hi-lighting black...

Basically what I'm looking for is a guide/step-by-step/whatever that works through painting natural looking wolves such as.... or really anything for painting multi-tone fur. Color progression I can figure out, it's the transitions and where to start that's boggling me.
