Extra Super Important Vital Earth Shattering Question about Mold Lines

OK, it\'s not that vital, but a question: how do you folks deal with mold lines going through fur? Ignore them? spend hours messing with them? Cover them with green stuff?

I think using a knife to sort of scrape the lines away, scraping with the \'grain direction\' of the fur. Depends on the direction of the moldline in relation to the direction of the fur. If the mold line is going sideways to the direction of the fur, that\'s tough. You would simply have to scrape harder.

yeah, I\'m trying to remove as much as possible on a blood thirster in the thigh area where the mold line goes through some fur, and I just didn\'t know what others were doing in similiar situations. Thanks though!

If it\'s with the direction of the fur, I usually just burnish or scrape at it. If it crosses the fur... well, I flatten the fur a bit to get rid of the top ridge, and then reshape it. In-between the fur strands, I burnish the line flat.

It\'s quick, it\'s lazy, and it seems to work quite well when the mould line cannot be removed by filing or cutting. Just rub a sculpting tool, or something suitably narrow and hard, down between the strands and flatten the little sucker against the rest of the fur.

Throw the whole mini away and start something new. In fact, send it to me and I will throw it away for you.:D;)

Mould lines are always a pain in the bum, especially when they are somewhere awkward like that...

Surely in the 21st century someone could come up with a better method of casting figures... Someone invent the replicator already :/

Yeah, like that thing in \"The Fifth Element\" that put Milla Jovovich back together. No mold lines at all.

Plastic dwarf buried in a unit of 24: scrape it, paint it, call it good.
Show/expensive model: try to scrape in the scape around it, then run out of patience and gs it.

The most important thing is getting rid of the mold lines on the fur strands and a knife is probably the best tool to use (that\'s what I use, at least...). In the deeper recesses between the strands it\'s not as important, since you\'ll most likely have a dark colour there and the mold lines will not be very visible.

Scraping and carving is the way to go, as far as I know.

Sorry, but if I had the wotsit from Fifth element and I could \"build\" Milla Jojovich, I wouldn\'t be worried about mould lines.

Or much else really.

I want to think of a good response to supervike\'s solution of just sending it to him, and he\'ll throw it away, but I just can\'t think of anything good. Maybe it\'s the idea of a room full of cloned Milla Jovovich\'s that\'s got me distracted...

I will sometimes use the sharp edge of the knife to simply carve grooves in the direction of the fur (or hair on a head) across the mold line. Enough of that and it looks like the hair/fur was meant to look that way.

Now, getting back on topic: I really ought to see that 5th element movie some time.

Why bother, Willis can\'t act and neither can Milla Jovovich., storyline\'s utter garbage and the Sci-Fi, isn\'t.

It\'s not the acting I like :p
Also - I really like those alien dudes at the beginning - the guardians - they kinda reminded me of the MK6 power armour!

By the way: If ur gonna try a wire brush - just start lightly as you can can scratch a surface quite easily if you start to hard - also it\'s hard to do small areas with a brush.

@Dan: I thought that. ;)
But Milla Jovovich is in the same league as Uma Thurman and Kira Knightly to me.
Don\'t see why people make such a fuss, they\'re nowt special.

Sorry Mike, but Uma Thurman has (had?) the most fantastic pair of breasts I think I have ever clapped eyes on.

Dangerous Liaisons........

Hubba hubba.
