I don\'t really get the difference of the 2 techniques... I guess I have just used this \'feathering\' all the time and called it wetblending...
I like wetblending more though... I always end up with a bubbly result when \'feathering\'. Thanks Greenone

I paint my thumb.
Well I think the distinction is pretty clear, when feathering you make really thin diluted layers and let them dry before moving on to another color, so there is nothing \'wet\' about it.

With wet blending both colors are placed on the surface, still wet, and then mixed together. With feathering the under layer is already dery and you are placing a lighter color on top and \"drawing\" out the paint until it fades into the darker color.

To add on to the feather article, using a drying retardant will help with ease of feathering since you will not be a rushed to wipe your brush, redampen it, and pull the wet paint. The retardant gives to a bit of time to work with the paint to get it just right. I learned this from the Hot Lead painting DVD.

Feathering is how you \'blend\' a new layer of wet paint into the colour underneath it, by brushing out the edge to soften the transition.

Feathering = brushing out edges, basically.
