I think some people just have delusions of grandeur. Might sound harsh but to think you are important enough in someone life that they would put in the effort to snipe you is a bit of a stretch.
I can\'t say I see any of the figures either in this posters gallery or in any of the other \"I am being picked on boo hoo\" threads that are not in fact pretty spot on score wise.

If you want comments on improving your painting post in the WIP forum.
If you want better scores take better photos and paint better.

It is not about the score anymore.

I was sniped, pure and simple. I\'m betting someone got annoyed by this thread, it makes sense. Mini\'s that have seen a lack of votes and suddenly shoot down .3 or .2 have been sniped.

From my experience seeing what you write, you\'re a very harsh voter. And usually when I estimate what a mini should be at, I use a few others and judge whether mine\'s better or not. It makes sense, and so should voting. And I do post in the WIP forum. I have been taking better photos, but when theres something in 25 mm thats smaller than most minis (Gollum) its not always a good thing to be close up.

Remember EricJ\'s gollum\'s face close-up? The left side was very rough and that was just from the pic. His pics \'paint\' a whole different picture.

I saw this pic and to be perfectly honest with you, given the poor photo (it was horizonatally compressed as well, IIRC) with a side view as the main pic, the score was probably justified.

I think it lacked contrast, something I\'m always being told i need to increase on my work.

what score did you feel it deserved, and on what basis? (given it\'s removed and folks are now commenting on the thread and not the mini)

We ask others how we can improve our painting

you just need to crop your pics closer to the mini so we can see it better, invest in a light tent, you only need a small one. Picture quality is massively improved

That is a rather amusing view coming from a boy who passes comment on better painters every week in his own thread.

Oh and just for interest I have voted on three of your minis.
Gollum I gave a 7 (actual is 6.8)
White Dwarf I gave 6 (actaul is 5.5)
Inquisitor Lord Coteaz I gave 6.6 (actual is 6.8)

But don\'t worry you have taken up quite enough of my life with your whiney little tanties.

I don\'t think Dr. Evilmonki told you HOW to paint better, he just said \"paint better\".

There is a defference there.

It\'s fun to review work by other artists. Especially this week\'s, as his mini was heavily underrated. I think that\'s nice about Gollum though, I\'m glad other people see it as a seven.

I\'ll ignore the last part.

That\'s rich. How about making that your signature, or maybe sloganize it.

Since you don\'t want painting help maybe some help with photo composition is in order.

gollum - could be a 7 but you cannot have the two-tone background with the texture on the bottom and lack of focus on the top and and expect someone to give the benefit of the doubt. A score of 6 is reasonable here also, just because of the composition of the photo - its the photo we are judging.

Yougblood White Dwarf Day entry. Crop the photo for crying out loud. Also, don\'t put two pieces of paper together with an edge visible as that catches the eye. Either cut the whole background out with photoshop or use one piece of paper. Since I can\'t see the figurein the photo I would go for a 6 but it is likely painted better.

White Dwarf. The figure is a 5. No way around it, but for early work it is pretty good. Crop the photo around the figure though. Right now the green base thing is the main focus and frankly I would give that a 3 since it really is weak.

Inquisitor - The two-tone background is not doing you any favors. cut it out and put a gradient or something in photoshop. Right now the figure looks like a 7 but since it is fairly small in the picture it could get a 6.


Now the one you had posted - The side view was lucky to get a 6. For one thing you had an acre of empty space on more that half of the picture and the figure was not centered in the image, so it was not nice to look at. The side view was not a good one and then you had a close-up of a pommel. A pommel!? A face goes in a close-up or some freehand detail, not a pommel.

All this is moot if you still think those figures are being sniped. I would say they are just getting evened out with people taking a more critical look at them. And don\'t think that complaining about it on the forums will get you any sympathy from the vets here.

One other thing, if you plan on continuing to review top figures or \"unappreciated\" figures it would be wise to critique your own work a little better. That\'s the nice way of putting it.

What\'s with the harshness? I was trying to put all that behind me. Anyways, I probably didn\'t state that right, I would like advice, but Dr EvilMonki\'s wasn\'t what I was looking for. I\'m not saying his suggestions are worthless, just that post could have been a little better. Sorry for my earlier nastiness, just a little teen drama that pushed me over the edge.

Anyways, thanks for some of the advice, you seem to have a great memory too :yes: About the pommel, I liked how the metallics on it turned out, so I figured it was worthy of feauturing. About the White Dwarf, that is a terrible pic, and I agree about the base. Thanks for the most part.

And I\'ve seen my models in person, I know what they are rated. But thanks again for the photo advice, you should think about writing an article.

Since that is your attitude, yeah, put it in your signature. But really, you don\'t even need to do that because by critiquing top painters when you are not one of their peer is saying the same thing to everyone on the forum.

So yes, learn some humility and how to take some photos.

I am a bit taken back by some of the things you say. Not sure if its teen angst, or you are just trying to get a rise from folks.

To each their own, I suppose.
