But you do play with other people in wow, many use vent to talk to each other whilst playing and for the high level stuff its almost a necessity to play.

One thing I\'ve noticed is how selfish people can be on it. If you aren\'t helping them and doing the same stuff they just aren\'t interested.

I got too addicted and stopped playing, but I\'m back for burning crusade and having fun. Gonna try to keep a balance this time. (this from the person with 2x lvl 60, a 43 a 41 a 39 a 23 a 16 a 12 and a 2 character...)

Not a fan of WoW

I\'ll jump in on this thread.
To start off I\'ve never played WOW and have no intention of ever doing so. To be honest I think its boring. (the South Park episode depicting WoW players was great)

Though I\'ve never played I have lost friends to WoW. One guy in particular would go to work at night, come home sleep for a few hours and then play WoW for 8 to 10 hours at a stretch. He fanished from the face of the earth. We would go over to his house to see if he wanted to go out and interact with real people and he\'d just stare at us like we were crazy.

He stopped talking about the real world...stopped calling...stopped seeing his friends.

Last I heard he was being treated for bed sores on his butt.

WoW\'s a great game... in moderation (like most things). I haven\'t played my account for about 8 months but am considering getting Burning Crusade. The problem with WoW and every other online rpg is the time you need to spend playing it to keep your character(s) competitive

Despite working for an MMO company in the past I don\'t actually think a lot of the games themselves. As an idea they are great, but until someone manages to make an MMO that is compelling because of the story and gameplay, rather than the grind of unlocking yet another level I won\'t get hooked. I\'d rather play Zelda or FF (not the online one though, that really is a poor MMO) again!

WOW is probably the best of them right now - it is huge, very polished and there are even a fair few good ideas going on - but I got tired of leveling up pretty quick and didn\'t find a lot else there to interest me.

I may play Warhammer Online when it comes out, but the WOWlike graphics aren\'t helping them sell the dark Warhammer world to me right now!

OOO WOW

Well i must confess i am a player of WOW,

Now dont shoot me just yet,

I have played wow for over 14 months now and i still do not have a lvl 60 character, those that play will know what i mean, some people go a little crazy with games of this genre, i like you use it as a bit of escapism, if i need a break from painting i will play a little wow and vice versa,

The new addon is for people with account that have characters over 60, so all the people that went a bought the game as new players cannot actually play in the new area Outland,

Seems a same that they did not publicise this i a little more!

Cheers Iain

I am A lvl 55 Undead Warrior on Dreanor.

Never played WoW and probably never will.

I used to play Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, but the realms got overrun with dupers, PK\'ers and the like. Blizzard tried a couple of things to stop the problems, but they were too busy working on WoW.

Once WoW came out, D2 went straight to hell. It got so bad that making games was an ordeal and, if you managed to get in, the massive lag would kill your character. It got so bad that I gave away all of my accounts; some with several high level characers. I decided that if Blizzard was going to let a great game like D2: LoD just die like that, then I wouldn\'t be purchasing anymore of their products.

Funny thing, though: if Blizzard hadn\'t ignored D2 and had actually fixed the problems, then I wouldn\'t have gotten into minature painting; I would have been too busy playing D2 all the time.

So, you all can blame Blizzard for my presence here. :D

I was heavily addicted to WoW for over a year, and only just stopped playing last month. My kids don\'t understand why I don\'t have any interest in playing anymore. (We still have three accounts).

My 16yr old son got the expansion yesterday, this means we will probably not see him for several months.

The game is great, but once you\'ve done everything for the tenth time it gets boring like everything else.

I find the bosses nice...

the bosses are nice..but the rest of the game sucks. I refuse to farm places forever for levels....but to see bosses, you need to be in a guild that raids, and the raids have preset schedules, attendence, etc.

I refuse to set the rest of my schedule around that.

Friend is seeing if I can join his guild; which are mainly friends in real life, so it shouldn\'t be a problem to let me in, even though I may hardly play for weeks at a time; but the question is, if I can\'t find a way to see the bosses, etc and fight them; I may not bother.

And the treasure drops are retarded for bosses; which force guilds to keep doing the same dungeons over and over until they get a certain # of items per person and can do the next dungeon...

A high power dragon should not give just a few powerful items. It should have a true dragon\'s hoard damnit!

Do the boss once, and that\'s it...don\'t face it again.

That\'s my issue with it.

I find it annoying that alot of people say the same thing ..

My friends bought the game and dissapeared or stopped talking to me.

Not really the games fault is it...

Ive been playing from the games inseption and havn\'t got a character over lvl 40 (mainly cus I keep starting bloody new ones)

Its a good game and I think in some ways prmotes socialisation (I talk to alot of swedes on there that I would never speak to in real life) everyone immediatly has something in common to break the ice with.

With reference to the Diablo 2 thing .. I was also an avid player but you have to consider that we were paying nothing to play online so there was little incentive for blizzard to keep things sweet (costs alot to keep security stuff upto date to stop dupers and hackers)

anywayz .. Im kewl cus I can make the murlock sound ..

I\'ve gotten a character to all of 42, and I\'ve played on and off since stress testing beta. Admittedly more off than on the past year or so, but we just started back up again to check out the expansion.

I like the game, but it suffers from the same things I don\'t like as most MMORPGs - forced socializing. I enjoy the type that you talk about, but I dislike that large sections of content are open only to larger groups. Sounds like it only gets much worse at higher levels. At least there is still content that can be enjoyed by the soloer or small group player, some games seem barely accesible at all unless you play in groups. I understand why the games are made that way - for many people, the bonds with friends, the sense of responsibility they feel to guilds, those keep them playing even if their enchantment with the actual game fades. But I\'d be more likely to play a game that lets me bumble along doing my own thing and not worrying about whether I\'m leveling at the same rate as guildmates or whatnot.

[anywayz .. Im kewl cus I can make the murlock sound ..
That does make you kewl! :-> Those guys crack me up every time. I also like their really dramatic over-acting deaths.

Let me know what thats like, now that I\'m seperated I don\'t think I\'ll ever get past four... :(

Update: In the first three days my son had the expansion he missed the school bus TWICE (he was too tired in the morning after pulling all-nighters). My ex made him bring his computer to my house so now he can only play on weekends. First time in three years we agreed on something.

Rise above the influince!!!! Fight the adiction!!! Don\'t do world of warcraft!

You may laugh but I\'ve seen enough people become adicted to world of warcraft. I\'m seriously thinking of having a \"video game intervention\" with my freind Teddy. It\'s really that much of a problem.
