A GOOD LoTR mini from GW?!

Yup, a lot of the Ruins of Arnor models are really nice, particularly the new troll and the rangers. Gulavhar is pretty monstrous too. Not one for those shy of pinning though!

I can definately see some cool daemon prince conversions on the way.

They\'ve done laods of good lotr minis. Has anyone seen the new troll, for instance?

They\'re all loking good a lot better than some previous stuff starting to let their imagination take hold a bit more now. Those spirits look nice another nice addition to my undead along with the Fall of the necromancer batswarms.

Now that they can explore some of the material that wasn\'t in the films GW can be more imaginative. The new demon is impressive, I\'m tired of all the troll incarnations though. The Arnorian soldiers look a little too WFB \"empire\" for my tastes.

I may be in a minority here but I like a lot of the LOTR minis - in fact, it was this range that got me back into painting (Pippin in his Gondor costume:yes: ). Although, as with any line there are some real disappointments too...

As for this new range, things are looking pretty good. I like the troll (was apalled at the Isengard one) and the demon looks pretty cool too.

I don\'t get it.
Nice mini and all, but what is it?
What does it have to do with Arnor?
I\'ve searched the web and the Encyclopedia of Arda and there\'s no mention of Gulavhar, and Arnor only fell because the brothers started fighting amongst themselves.

He comes from the seldom-read little-known Tolkien fragmentary short story called \"Gulavhar\'s Travels\" in which the hero finds numerous unknown lands whose cultures offer opportunities for scathing political commentary against Gondor. He also meets little people who tie him up.

Personally I like alot of the GW Lotr range, there are a few weak minis the Knights of Dol Amroth spring to mind as they were a little too Warhammerish in appearance, and also the Vampire Bat swarms were poor but these weaker models are in the minority.
The Ruin of Arnor is giung to be very cool from what I have heard and the models shown are excellent.
I will be adding alot more to my Lotr collection in the new year.

Good question, I would like to see these, I both look forward to and at the same time dread GW producing the dragons though.
