Adikolor or Vallejo Game Color

I am actually planning to replace my citadel paint kit with either Adikolor or Vallejo Game Color. Can any of you guide my choice... Example and comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

I haven\'t used Adikolor before but I predominantly use Game Color.

Good things about GC:

Great bottles with dropper... so not easy to dry out and beats dipping a brush into a pot.

The colours have a strong pigment and are generally not so thick.

Compared to GW, they cost less and contain more paint ...

And I suppose if you were into painting guides from WD or whatever... they are useful for matching the GW colours

I can\'t think of any bad points to be honest... although some people say that the metallic pigments aren\'t ground as finely as GW.... never noticed myself... but I\'ve been painting mostly NMM recently :)

both are good in their own ways

I\'ve tried both, and I lean more toward the Vallejos, but I did buy the mega-case of Adicolor and here\'s why I say both are good in their own ways.
-Both are full of pigment and flow is still great.
-Both assortments of colors are vast & mixing are still great anyway
-Both have the awesome drop bottles
-Both require a sufficient amount of shaking because there is so much pigment. I recommend switching arms so one isn\'t \"buffer\" than the other.
-Vallejo dries quickly, great if you\'re in a hurry and don\'t want nit-pick about your wet-blending (but you could, because you can pick up the retardant, which is also great)
-Adicolor takes forever to dry, which is great when you want to wet-blend. I asked them why it took forever, and that\'s why. They\'re focusing on the wet-blenders. When I talked to them at Origins, they said that there was going to be an accelerant out in the fall.

I\'m still new to the wet-blending technique, so I tend to revert to the layering & feathering, which is why I lean more toward the Vallejos because I\'m used to those. But both are good...in their own ways.;)

Bear in mind I am a walking advert for these paints, but.......

Vallejo is excellent stuff. I\'ve recently tried out some of their Air Colour range, and these are fantastic for feathering. Their airbrush thinner is great stuff too. It retards drying and thins without losing too much opacity. It\'s great mixed with inks too as it removes the sheen you get with them. There are other good paint ranges out there, but if you are looking for GW equivalent colours that are cheaper and superior quality, then try them out.

Vallejo

I\'ve never tried Adikolor, but I recently (as in about 3 months ago) switched from GW (citidel) to Vallejo.
I will never, ever, ever go back

the only thing I kind of miss aree the inks. but Vallejo is heavily pigmented & thin enough to begin with I can usualy acomplishe washes etc, better with a few drops of water, than what GW inks did.

my personal beleifs.
everyone wil ltalk about pigment & so on but here\'s meine, & it\'s harder to quantify, but true

it\'s smoother. it jsut feels like it\'s goign on thinner & smoother than GW ever did, it feels like liquid silk gliding off my brush & onto the mini. people will probably call me crazy but I can honestly feel a difference, in the way my brush contacts the mini, and because of this \"less sticky\" feeling, my brush controll has improved, as has my ability to cover well in one pass.
my only real complaint, water as a thinner, isn\'t as easy, as with GW because Vallejo is alchahol based, and if you add to much water 9even distilled) it seems to not mix well, & get chalky, but it\'s thin enough that on averag,e I only add a drop or two of watter, to about 5 - 8 drops of paint.. a couplem ore drops of water, to make washes.

Sounds interesting, been thinking of trying an airbrush for ages, but i\'m familier with the fact that you\'d have to thin Citadel paints waaay down, and with some of their colours...

I got my very first Vallejo paints today. Got a couple of reds [plus others] as i\'d heard their pigmentation was great. I am really blown away by how effective their red is.

I use a combination of Vallejo and Citadel, myself. The distributor for my local indy retailer (gotta support \'em) doesn\'t carry Adikolor at the moment, to my knowledge. The only Citadel products I use at the moment are the inks, the black and white sprays for basecoating, and dark green (the Vallejo dark green seems to have a problem with beading up, for some reason),

Hmm, I would go for Game Color, since I\'ve heard Adikolor is far worse.(from the masters like Cyril and SaxonAngel ! )
