Another commission job. This time it\'s an Eldar army box in 3-4 weeks. Ready.....go!

Here we see the box o\' Eldary goodness.

First 4 guardians. I can\'t seem to just assemble plastic troops, so the leader guy got a simple arm conversion so he\'d look cooler.

ATTN! Does anyone know where the bits below the Guardians go?!? From the waist in the back maybe? I couldn\'t find any pictures that actually have them attached, even at GW\'s site.

See you tomorrow!

I thought they were plasma and krak grenades, But I belive that option has been dropped in the new codex.

Anyway always seen them around the waist area in the past.

I can\'t believe you\'re going to do another army in a month. You\'re crazy, but if the commission pays well, then I\'d say you should be working on it even now, not sleeping....:D
Compared to the tau army, this is gonna be a fun one. And I mean fun for us to watch. Not alot of fun for you....so many gems.:drunk:

I\'m looking forward to regular updates -- but please don\'t post the shots of you drooling, bleeding from the eyes, or otherwise suffering nervous breakdowns.

Just the minis, thanks ;)

Hey hakomaike,
You\'re a busy man. The ornimental bits are as already stated, grenades and spare magazines, I\'ve always stuck them round the waist, (side or back) although they can be a bit of a bugger to stick on. Guess you could stick them any where you like, although if they\'re not an option in the new codex, you\'re probably better not to use them at all.
At least with the eldar you\'re gonna get a bit of varity in terms of colour, what scheme has your client suggested, or is that up to you too.
Tell me, on the new Dire avenger plastics (if they\'re included that is,)are the any bare heads, i.e. not wearing helmets?

The colors are a mix of Ulthwe and the army box art. Howling Banshees are bone, Dark Avengers are blue, everything else Ulthwe (black and bone) with Fire Dragons red blended to black.

The Dire Avenger sprue does have a bare head on it. A rather severe looking fellow.

Regarding actual wip: I finished assembling all 8 Guardians Tuesday night after taking the photo of the first 4. Last night was Warmachine night, so I actually played instead of painting. Magnus the Traitor was no match for my Feora!

Best of luck mate, the money MUST be good, or you have no sanity to lose!lol

When I first started my Orks I could turn out a mob of 30 boys in one night, pulling an all nighter (and most likley a sickie from work the next day!) And to a decent table top (but not Tony Manero Tabletop!) standard!

It can be done, but I wouldn\'t fancy doing it! Just try to break up the drones of rank and File with something more interesting to keep a bit of motivation there \'\' when I finish the umpteenth guardian I will treat myself to the wraithlord\'\' type thing is the best advice I can offer.

How many stuff does the box contain? Actually don\'t bother answering that, get back to painting Man!!!

It takes me 2weeks to finish 1 unit!! I find the repetition drives me mad! Good luck on taking up these crazy commisions though! I would take me about 6month!

I\'ve discovered that being sick slows me down quite a bit. cough. hack.

In any case, here\'s the assembled Guardians and Dire Avengers.

This makes 20 assembled infantry out of 33 in the box (including the Autrarch and the two guardians with the heavy weapon platform.)
I won\'t put the Dire Avenger exarch\'s weapons on until I hear from the customer about the equipment choice. In the new codex you can take either a Dire Sword and shuriken pistol or power weapon and shimmer shield. Not a Dire Sword and shimmer shield. Not a power weapon and a shuriken pistol.

Am I insane? hmmm.... it\'s 2:30AM and I\'m sick and just going to bed. Yeah, that\'s not right. Well, enjoy the show! :bouncy:

Brandy, and sleep, your client will understand, if not screw \'em.
What\'s that funny little thing at the back of the dire avenger group on the first picture?

I are love the new eldar!

The little things you mentioned are nades and mags. They generally go on the waist. I liek to put mine a bit lower down on the leg though..looks better ;)

I took HubbaBubba\'s medical advice and rested. He\'s not a doctor, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Today, I got sick of resting and cleaned and assembled the rest of the infantry.

The Howling Banshees:

The Fire Dragons:

..and since I was taking pictures... the Dire Avengers again:

and the Guardians, now a complete squad with weapon platform.

@Hubbabubba: the icon thingy with the dire avengers was just something on the sprue (you get two of them with the box.) I figured I\'d put it on a base for him to use as an objective marker.

I\'m a week into the project and still haven\'t put a drip of paint on the minis. Painting begins now!

Left to assemble: Vyper, Wraithlord, Falcon, Autrarch

Okay, recuperating (sigh) and finally painting.

Holwing Banshees basecoated graveyard earth:

Fire Dragons blackwashed with some red color testing:

Dire Avengers, blue ink washed:

Guardians, washed black multiple times. I need to even the black out in some areas, but for Ulthwe this is the basic scheme.

I\'m glad I was able to get some paint on them. I was feeling like I was falling behind.
Newest news on the job: the customer decided he now wants me to paint two Eldar army boxes. This fellow is going to keep me busy! :bouncy:

so whats your trick to speed painting?

Do you just go in with the wash then go back and highlight?

I go for base coat - wash - highlight and its taking me forever!!
