Artemis... So much BLACK! :P

(Please don\'t bother me with scale inconsistencies and actual marine/regular-human scale issues ) lol

OK; This dude - whilst a lovely sculpt, I\'m following the regular colour scheme for him being a deathwatch marine...
And BOY is there a lot of black to do...
I\'ve only REALLY done the left greave - But would appreciate some feedback on that and the rest of him too.

(As for the chapter markings, I decided to make something up - I wanted a yellow background, but then I got stuck, so I just silhouetted a lion (copied from a 10p :D))

EDIT: Ooops! Some PICS would be good!
D\'OH!

field grass will do the job far better mate, just cut it to length.

Nice work on the mini, great job on the face! I like the lion silhouette reminds me of a lion of judah (could make em rasta-marines :p j/k) only thing I see is ya gotta drill out the gun. I also agree with Generul the grass on the base doesn\'t look right.

Eyrie eyrie maaahhhn! lol
Rasta-marine - nice idea... lol

What is it about the grass in particular that doesn\'t look right? The stiffness or the colour?
(the colour can be changed easily enough, but the stiffness might not...)

I feel for you painting Artemis, i painted one a few years ago, and to paint the power armour and keep it smooth and still look good was an absolute nightmare.

Still i did mine a dumb idea of blue (it was a phase were all my models were part blue)

Still its looking really sweet, though im a little iffy with the red shoulder pad for the deathwatch shoulder pad (just preference though)

great job

As an idea from my college art days, in lieu of using grey straight from the bottle, try mixing it from you pallette (red green white; purple yellow white; etc) It may help avoid chalkiness and possibly add a bit of life to your grey. If you don\'t I will (If i ever get back to my templars, seeing as da Krush is taking up my oh so limited time these days)

The one thing that strikes me is that the lion should be facing forward.
Otherwise it\'s turning it\'s back on the enemy.

mainly the color in my opinion, it\'s a very bright green and sark white perhaps tinting them a little bit more a natural color would do the trick.

@TH - hmm interesting - however I can\'t help but feel for such a large figure getting the right mix each time would take ages!

@DR - Hmm I see what you mean, I guess I should\'ve reversed it - like I said - a straight copy from a 10p piece

@Friar - Righto :)

Cheers all

no, thats not right - hes showing the enemy his arse!!

looks great apart form the base, as mentioned and the gun has two mold lines on it. one on the barrel and one on the cable linking to the scope

without being rude the base looks like it is some cork and string attached to plastic base.

sorry for being super blunt, but painting over the \"grass\" won\'t improve.
get some field grass and cut it to length, glue it in clumps and when dry add static grass around the edges to help taper the clump and give more realism.
then paint it with washes and drybrushing.

the ground needs to have several layers of \"crap\" that nature slowly sets down over time.
get this dvd mate, you will fully understand what i am on about then as well as learn even more http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxproductdetail.php?ProductCode=CF097

If you really want this model to look stellar, you really should have drilled out the muzzle.

The grass has two obvious colors and isn\'t pointy at the top. There should be some sort of color variance and real grass is kind of pointy.

If you take a look at your first posted pic you can see some blueish reflections on the side of the armor and some white reflections on the back. That\'s how you should paint it.
Position the model so the reflections fall where you want them. Then take a pic and use it as a reference for when you\'re painting.

Good luck!

OK.
Let me just say about this guy - the base isn\'t my work - neither is the gun arm :p :)

I will get round to drilling the barrel and, if I can be ARSED, changing the base, but as far as I can tell - it IS cork.
The \"String\", by which I presume to mean the \"grass\" are the strands from a household paintbrush.

And also - who says grass HAS to be pointy?! It\'s a fantasy figure- he could be on a planet 1078843 light years away :p And they don\'t really exist! lol

I\'ve been to that planet. They don\'t even HAVE grass there. ;)

Actually, I was just making suggestions. If you don\'t want to do any of that stuff, that\'s totally cool. It\'s your model, do what you want.

If it were me, I wouldn\'t have used grass though. It\'s so very hard to do correctly. I would have just used some bits of metal or something to make it look... i dunno... Tech-ie?
