Since Bill will be along shortly I\'ll do a partial hijack and ask him if he knows spiders?

We have a new type around here last few years - looks a little like a Black Widow in form, but dark brown - I was wondering if maybe it was a recent introduction to Ireland or had just become more common with the milder weather.

And Dan, I\'m going to go with newt, since the skin doesn\'t look like a reptile\'s in the photos.

I\'m veering towards lizard. There seems to be a lack of webbling and newts/salamanders tend to have smaller heads. Cast your vote!

Bill was around earlier but I guess he didn\'t see the thread. I\'m really trying hard to resist answering the question. It could be a Nizard or a Lewt.

EDIT: Einion, does the spider look like this one?

Right general shape but there are no markings that I\'ve noticed on the abdomen.

Edit: just did a quick search, looks like a type of False Widow, a Rabbit Hutch Spider.
