Thanks Lono :)

I changed a few of those things, but it\'s easier said than done; I have no control over the height of headers or anything. I just write and upload. I\'ve added the miniatures section now anyway, and more photos. Check it out :D http://billjobling.com

I suspected it might be tricky to make some of the changes with the package you are using. It is already looking much better though. The nav on the right is a little unusual but I think it works because of that.

In my spare time I have recently been fiddling about with a mini display site (to show the very slow progress of my GD entries) too. It\'s not going to be ready for ages, because I thankfully have a good amount of web work on, but once it is I am considering selling it as a package to others.

If all goes well it will be an easy to update site specifically for creating high quality miniature galleries, wips and tutorials that have very tunable looks and features.

If I ever get it sorted and can work out how to host it at a competetive price I\'ll let you know! ;)

Thanks guys :)

And thanks loads for all those amazing comments people left in the Guest Book! It means a lot, thanks guys

I\'m trying to make my own header for the site at the moment, but it won\'t let me have it under 150pix in height. Still, it should look a bit better when I\'m done ;)

Matty: Is it? All I get to see is the order form, could you tell me how it\'s ugly please? Thanks :D

Lono: what is an alt tag please? Also, When I click on a photo in a gallery it makes it as a new window, and the \"close this window\" bit works too. I am using firefox as a browser. Is it working differently on yours? Thanks :)

It seems to have changed now, but when you first posted the site up it was big ugly squares of bright colours in abstract positions. But it looks cool now.

Alts - If you right click any image on a web page and get its properties you will see that there is something called alternate text. This shows up if an image fails to load, and also if someone is visually impared and the like they can still hear what is on your page. It\'s a web accessability function and you really should put alts on all images. The html tag for it sits in the image tag, so it would be something like <img src=\"pictureofasheep.jpg\" alt=\"An image of a sheep\">. Most people don\'t bother with this sort of thing, ultimately it won\'t affect the look of the site, but it\'s good to get these things sorted at the early stages of learning about site development so you have sites that are as usable as possible.

The photo galleries work now in a new window. Before you changed whatever you did for the new build of the site the photos weren\'t popping up in a new window, now they are.

As you are already have Firefox you should make sure you have the Web Developer Plugin. It let\'s you really mess about with pages as you view them, so it\'ll help you understand how your website works!

I just had a look at the Mr Site pages. The system does look rather limited, but this part in the list of features

\"Nerd Alert! FTP Access

If you are a bit on the nerdy side you can upload your own designs onto your web space using FTP.\"

This indicates that you can modify the core page code and get the header and stuff to be however you want. You will need to learn some more in depth web coding abilities though, which probably wasn\'t your intention. I\'m guessing you got the builder so you didn\'t have to.

If you want to learn about HTML then W3 Schools would be a good place to start. Or you could just tell me to stop trying to complicate things!

Thanks for all your help Lono :)

I\'ve done what I can with the package (as you say, learning HTML wasn\'t my intention), and with your advice I\'m pretty satisfied with it now :D I\'ve added my own background and header, got a nice font, worked out how to use hyperlinks (and change their colour), and added a load of new photos to \"miscellaneous\" now. I\'m not able to use alt tags though :possessed:

Cheers!!

Update: I had created a huge mp3 jukebox, taking several hours in total to load up 30+ songs (including ones by Lemon Jelly and Portishead :D), when something funny started happening and I found out that I was using 310% of my webspace quota. Went to delete files, and mp3 files are huge! About the size of 70 of my photos  So I deleted all the mp3 files (grumble) and I went back to 18% of my quota. Henceforth, there will be 5 songs in the jukebox, which will be changed weekly :D

Thanks you, that is all
