Build A Better Ogre

This was my entry to the Build A Better Ogre painting and conversion contest. We were each given one Ogre Bull (plastic model and a buch of random bits) and had one month to complete it. Sounds like the Slayer Sword Challenge...well thats were we got the idea from! I chose an Ogre Butcher and went to town. The conversion took about 10 hours over the span of 3 days and the painting took about 25 hours for the Butcher and 5 hours for the base. I have been studing automotons painting quite a bit lately and although I am nowhere near his skill level, I think that I have learned a lot and my painting has benifitted from it. Here is the link to the model. I am also going to post some extra shots here for you to comment on. Anyways, cc is always welcome as well as your all important vote!!!

like the skin and your metals a lot, how do you do the rusty bits? The base is very well done and gory - and gory is always good. Only thin I dont like is the yellow part of the trousers, think it\'s highlighted a bit to much - just personal preference, the paint job is good.
How did you fare in the contest? - voted

the \'greens\' look...ok. but the paintjob really brings it out. good job man. he\'s got quite an old school feel to him

Fantastic stuff!!! I loved the greens but the painting makes it so much better, you have a fantastic mini there and one that would not look out of place in any golden demon cabinet.

Well done, and remember to let us know how you get on, and if you have any pictures of your competitors work post them here too!!!

Damn! thats some good stuff. Very nicely done, and like said above, the painting really brings out the sculpt!

Great base too.

Saw this at the ogre stronghold. Awesome conversion and the paint job really does it justice. Did the vote thing.

Thanks Ogrebane. You are actually one of my inspirations for this project. You have done so many ogre \"How too\'s\" and \"wip\'s\" I can\'t say I didn\'t use some of your tricks and tips for this one!

Thanks!
