For those who haven\'t found it already, Miniature-painting.net has an interesting photo set covering the process of professional miniature casting.

Also, I\'m currently experimenting with casting small (i.e. figure-size) objects in plaster, using a brush-on rubber mold material. My main interest is replicating slightly larger objects made from Sculpey, but I\'ve found you can make decent molds of things 25mm or less in size too. Now, assuming everything goes well (the first test castings are slowly drying right now), would anybody be interested in a brief article with pics, detailing how the process went?

If you want to move on to things like pewter casting, pick up McCreight\'s \"Complete Metalsmith\" and \"Practical Casting\". These are excellent introductions to casting and metalwork.

Pewter casting is not difficult or that expensive to do (I am not, repeat, not, suggesting this for recasting items). Casting your own desings is fun, even if you don\'t use it for miniatures that often.
