After finishing Boromir and remembering just how much i enjoy painting Lotr I decided to do another character and plumped for Celeborn. To be honest the cast i have is not the best the face was very undefined and I struggled quite alot with it, i may still go back and *tweak* parts of it here and there. But i am most pleased so far with how the robe is coming along.
I still need to go back on a couple of the areas of the robe and just improve the blendings a bit but so far so good. Like I say I am really enjoying these minis again and will probably go for a third when this is done.

The robe looks really nice, so far. I have problems with the face, though... The folds in his forehead looks much to severe (they\'re almost as pronounced as his mouth) and gives him an almost comical look, which I don\'t think is your intention.

Yep I will be going back over that area before the mini is finished making them less pronounced.

Just a small update today, started working on the sash and also tweaked the face a little.

I\'ve just got to try and work out now how to do a silvery type thread now for the chord. I might have to go down the nmm route.

The Robes are Bang On! but I\'m not a fan of the face. It looks better but it still looks way too wrinkly for an Elf. Were this supposed to be a human I would think it looks great, but I think elven skin should be lighter and smoother.

LOL, I just realized who this looks like. Ozzy! At least right now with the black (unpainted) hair.

Hmmm Ozzy indeed lol but then again I guess it does, so for the latest update, I have done the outer robe and apart from a couple of extra highlights and shades here and there it is pretty much done, which just leaves the hair and necklace to do on the mini.

The colour was an experiment, I wanted a light colour for the robe but at the same time I wanted to keep the colours overall looking cold. Though I wasn\'t too sure of how it looked at first, now that it is 99% done I am really happy with it.

I have been working on Celeborn some more, I have re \"tweaked\" the face a bit and now think it looks alot better. I have done the hair and that I am not at all happy with. After studying the character from watching the movies again I wanted to try and give him the light hair colour he has. the trouble is the hair on the model is not very well sculpted at all and with no definition to any of it makes it harder to do. So I will be going back over it at some point to try and make it look better.

I will be going back over the outer robes at some point to smooth a few things out and add an extra highlight or two here and there, also I will be trying to soften the dark outline around the hair I hadn\'t realised how stark it looked until after the picture was taken.

The face looks really nice now, Tim! The hair looks pretty nice too, though I think you could make some brighter highlights on the top of his head to make the hair a bit more shiny. I think you can give hair almost an NMM treatment if you want it really shiny.

The darklining around the hair needs to be toned down, though, as you said. The line between hair and forehead makes it look like he\'s wearing a wig. With really light hair and fair skin there\'s not much need for a line there at all. In the back, I suggest using one of the medium dark shadow tones from the cloak to outline the hair. That will make the line look like a natural part of the cloak.

I thought I would take the opportunity today to get this mini finished and off the workstation so I can fully concentrate on a skeleton commission for Otherworld Miniatures. So here is the finished (for now) Celeborn.

I do have plans to revisit this mini later and refine one or two things as well as long term I plan to make a whole new scenic base for it. But for now this is all the time i can spend on it. Hope you like it.
