CMDante - Rogue Trader

Ok, yet another project here but this ones a small one, single figure (for now anyway!) representing a rogue trader. I\'ve been reading the Ravenor books lately and really wanted to put one together.

Having a spare DKoK commissar lying about I decided to use this as the basis. A quick \"off with his head\" later and some cutting and scraping to remove all of the gas mask and tank and I had the base for my conversion.

While considering what to use for his head I found a head I had been sculpting a while back so decided to use it. I\'ve given him a tache and goatee, along with earring to make him more rogue traderish. Not sure if I\'m done with his hair yet, we\'ll see.

Hand is very early stages (just mocked up really) so pretty rough at the moment but you can see what I\'m going for. The fingers still need alot of work, the pinky needs resized a little and the ring finger needs gs to bulk it out too.

Incase your wondering about the mouth, he\'s exhaling smoke while smirking.

Cheers,

Left eye has been finished now, had left it as I was contemplating bionics but decided against.

The inspiration has been a sort of Clark Gable \"Gone with the Wind\" type figure. I\'m not sure what you mean about the mouth? It looks fine to me. Remember he\'s exhaling smoke and smirking.

The hand is almost finished now so hopefully some paint soon.

when I first looked at the mini\'s cloths it reminded me of a western \"gone with the wind\" type of theme. So I guess you definitely pulled off the look you were going for

good stuff.

Well, the thought of doing a gang around this figure has grown on me to the point that I have begun to work on a few of my other ideas.

Second up for the group is a \"smile girl\" - see Eisenhorn books for more info.

Early days yet but you can see where its going. The legs have been filed down to look more feminine and slender with the feet shaped for the basis of high heels. The idea is to have a long coat hanging off of her shoulders with arms at almost right angles to either side. Weapons will be either a sword/knfie or a laspistol/stub pistol.

The head is just a temporary stand in though I am thinking about using it but sculpting new eyes etc. We\'ll see.

Hope to start painting the trader soon too.

Dante

I think that I\'d go with a pistol in the left hand, arm straight out firing, and a shotgun/pistol/sword in the right, pointed down and behind the leg. IE A quick snap fire turn move, with the trench coat wrapping around in a clockwise motion. Just M2C.

i\'d give her a pistol in the left hand, and a sword/ dagger in the right.
point the pistol somewhat forward, and twist her head so she looks like she\'s aiming the pistol.
The dagger should be held back but ready to use.

now this is my humble opinion, if you had other plans, use those offcourse. i just think that her pose lends itself so well for a bit of action.

Quick update. A little more work done on the head, body and feet.

Still very rough as it\'s only second stage so just trying to lay the foundations for everything to come. Quite pleased with how the eyes have turned out, looks alot more human now.

Again, let me know what you think. More to follow soon.

Thanks for the comments Scott.

As promised, a bit of an update!

I\'ve started on the arms, just mocked up at the moment to work out how I\'m going to do them. Not sure about the metal laspistol yet, looks quite large but at the same time, it looks kind of fitting and offsets the delicacy of the other pistol and the rest of the mini.

Next steps are to start prep work for the coat and develop the arms more.

As usual, comments etc appreciated.

Decided against the metal pistol. It just looked too big for her. Also wasn\'t liking the military look of the FW pistol so decided to trim the clip off and I like it much better now.

Just finished doing the bulk of the sculpting work on the new hand to turn it from a righty to a lefty. Notice also the trimmed pistols sans clip.

I\'ve also done a little work to even up the size of the eyes. Her left eye was looking a little off before. I also reworked the heels a little and added a spar to the corset to try and make it a little more symetrical.

As usual, comments and thoughts welcome.

Cheers,

Dante
