A while back one of the forum threads discussed creating another contest (I think it was Axebone discussing sponsoring one) and someone listed a bunch of on-line painting contests. I can\'t for the life of me find that so would someone mind posting a list of all the on-line comptetitions you know of?

This is by no means a complete list, but are the MAJOR contests I know of:
If you know any others list them :idea:We can make our own extended list here.

I forgot one:
This one is a monthly contest which culminates into a \"best of the best\" contest at the end of the year.
Getting information is a pain though because of the group format and all information being in message format. If you don\'t edit the mail portion, you will be inundated with emails on every message.
Thats just my own personal opinion though.. :)
ohh and why not just edit my other post? To get that much closer to my century mark of course lol

The Golden Toadstools

Yes, it is true that this contest is hosted on the Yahoo Group. However, the group is not about the contest. It is about advanced painting techniques, sharing art and learning. The contest simply resides there :D

Ohh and yes I used my 100th post for you Glyn!! lol

I saw a bunch of contest listings on New Wave a while back. I think maybe they haven\'t been updated in a while, as most of them are well past over! (Halloween painting contest in December?!?!?)

Reaper used to sponsor their own contest too, with the winner getting to have their own personal mini cast. However it\'s been a couple years now on that one, and Reaper has changed their website format. I was thinking about inquiring via email if they were going to do it again. Wouldn\'t mind if others did too.

Lurch, did you enter the LOTR contest? Sadly there were only 2 people in my category at my local store.....

Sadly no. The reason being that the LOTR minis leave very little room for creativity. If the mini is not painted as per the movies, your not going to do well. And I can\'t handle that much pressure.. lol.
However, I did look into my local store (shameless plug here.. Tabletop Hobbies and games on 75th and Quivera in Shawnee Mission KS  ) And there were about 15 entered.
\'Course about 5 of them were from one guy ! :D

\"If the mini is not painted as per the movies, your not going to do well.\"

Boy do I hear you on that one!!! I painted a Twilight Ringwraith and got docked points because one judge didn\'t know what \"character in the movie\" it was. My competitor (there were only 2 of us who got placed in the Vetran category) entered Elrond - the same mini he entered the year before - and got first prize. I guess if I want to win the contest, I need to paint a mini from that year\'s movie and paint it EXACTLY like the movie character.

Which, of course, leaves no room for imagination....

Garsh darn

Thanks for the shameless plug! When I get the camera for a few more nights, the Reaper Elf King will take on more shape as well as the step-by step tutorial thingy :D Good fun, but I really need to get more pics in my little tips area

Gotta retake the pics! It\'s an old Grenadier skellie that I painted with Tops Hobby Enamels, and by nature of the paint, is quite glossy. And quite badly painted by myself long ago. Back then I had less than \"quality\" tools, and maybe I should include pic of the brush. Just for laughs, of course! :p

Will let you know when I post him. Need to get a good pic to really show how, er, crappy he looks. :D
