Does anybody goes to Depeche Mode show in Atlanta (1 september) or Tampa (4 september)? I will be in USA in this time and would like to see concert. Who want to join?

80\'s pop..

Gotta love 80\'s pop music! My ol\' roommate loved Depeche Mode. They\'re cool. Used to hear \'em in the background occassionally on weekends. I guess I wasn\'t the biggest fan. But who am I to talk! I love Tears For Fears! I guess I\'m officially blacklisted for admitting that. Hehe;

Depeche Mode are fecking ace! Definitely a high point of the 80\'s. I saw them on Jools Holland recently and thought they were damned tight.

I\'d snap Alexi\'s hand off (odd Engish phrase for enthusiastically accepting her gracious offer :D) if I was in the US

Personal Jesus is as cool as f**k

I saw depeche mode about a month ago at Arvika, Sweden. i really like dm (been a fan for at least 15 years...) but that gig was a bit disappointing. they just went up stage, did their work and then off. nothing more, nothing less. ok i guess, but not that of a thrill i were expecting or hoped for.

If they were in the UK the same time as me then I would go as well :D

Laurence, They are not pop they were classed as New Wave I believe along with Spandau Ballet, Visage and Human League to name but a few :D

Beats the hell out of most of the crud in the charts these days :D

Depeche Mode :beer:

They were New Wave until Vince Clarke left...

Master and Servant, Personal Jesus and Fly On The Windscreen. Fantastic records.

Depeche Mode?!?! My God in heaven, I can\'t believe they\'re still alive. They were \"emo\" before \"emo\" was invented. I can\'t believe people would still WANT to listen to DM, let alone pay money for the \"priveledge\" lol

Have a good time gang!

Depeche Mode is one of the greatest bands ever! I\'ve seen them live a couple of times and they are truly great performers. Although I do feel they had their best time in the late 80s/early 90s, they still do great stuff. The album they did before the latest one was great, for instance, whereas the new one is a little less impressive. Not bad, but not great.

@ScottR
Shame on you for using the word \"emo\" in this context! :cussing:

I agree with you there Ritual, playing the angel was very good. Sounds of the universe is not a strong album in my opinion. There are no songs that really \"grab me\". Good band though! My favourite album of thiers would be Songs of Faiht & Devotion I think! Oh, and Depeche Mode are not EMO!

Angst and torment ridden perhaps. :rolleyes:

Haven\'t heard anything of theirs in 20 years. Mind you wasn\'t really bothered about them in the first place.

Emo is a rather specific subgenre with its origins in the American hardcore and punk scene. Therefore, per definition, DM is not Emo.

I said they were Emo before there was Emo. The founders fo the feast so to speak. Maybe I\'m out to lunch on that. I am pretty acquainted with their works as an old roomie of mine was a big fan of theirs. And he was sad and grumpy all the time, always whining that no girls liked him, and that people always stole his girlfriends (I actually stole his last girlfriend and married her, so maybe he had a point) so perhaps I am projecting my own context onto DM.

But whatever. I\'d still rather judge an international fart smelling contest then sit in on a live DM show.

But sometimes Anders, I have the feeling we are very, very different people!lol

We\'ll have to settle this over a couple dozen pints at the world expo.

Most likely, yes. I know a couple of people like that (grumpy and whinging) and most of them listens to metal, except for one guy who listens to classical music. Music can be incredibly important for some, but it doesn\'t define who we are.
