I know it\'s a coolminiornot site and this topic has nothin\' in common with minis but... DIMEBAG DARELL (exPANTERA,DAMAGEPLAN) was murdered during the concert in USA...I can\'t explain how I feel.I\'ve never met him but form me he was one of the reasons why I started playin\' guitar, he gave me strength to practice..I remeber when I was totally sad I saw him playin\' concert-It was like \" just take your guitar, forget about the pain you\'ve got somethin to live for - music!!-he really saved me that day...
You will live forever in my heart, you and your music.Thank you for everything - you will be missed. Rest In Peace Brother.

wow.

I didn\'t hear anything about this. Murdered? That is scary.

I was never a big Pantera fan, but my ex-Brother-in-Law is a musician and knew Darrel. I had heard some pretty good stories about him.

That is tragic.

Some guy went up on stage during a concert with the band and shot Darell and his brother, who\'s also in the band. Then he shot two people in the audience and was finally shot himself by a policeman. Five dead! ???

damn....nasty. Wasn\'t pantera that glam band that went \'cool\' all of a sudden in the early 90\'s?

i don\'t think so...

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure those Pantera Guys were quite the opposite of GLAM. More like very scary. Very heavy.

Well, they actually were glam before they went heavy. Those old pics are pretty funny.

it\'s scary what happened though. Apparantly the guy had been mad that they had left Phil Anselmo and Pantera, and it was some sort of \"revenge\"...

Not glam no. His nick WAS Diamond Darell and he changed it with the times, but still.
Pantera was totally opposite from glam. Cowboys from Hell is still one of my top albums... man.

This is just a waste. Real scary too as a drummer from my hometown plays in a band, Diesel Machine, and his singer Pat just joined Damageplan.

Check it out...

Freaky that I just read about Pat going the other day...

edit: Don\'t get me wrong, I do like Cowboys from Hell, but fact is they were a glam band in the early days.

So they had big hair... Definately not glam. Go look up Poison.

Glad you never saw pics of me from the late 80\'s...

I had big hair... even wore the odd bracelet, but I was FAR from glam.

I am pretty sure their early music was pretty lame (ok, nobody is as lame as Poison :) ), before Cowboys From Hell. I could be wrong though, it was a long time ago.

Regardless, that is terrible what happened.

Well it just goes to show how f****d up this world realy is when you can\'t even entertain people and give people something that they enjoy without fear that some complete arsehole is going to wreck someone elses lives and completely take away other peolples lives.
I realy like Pantera and their music. I hadn\'t even heard about it but cannot say that I am totally surprised with the amount of aggression that seems to be in the world today.

See, now you are forcing me to goof off at work and look for proof :D

They did an album before Cowboys; I am pretty sure the picture Astonia put up is from that album/era. It might have been a different lime-up or under a different band name, but I\'m pretty sure it was Pantera. OK, off to Google! :)
